I'd love to see some different options for this. There are almost 9000 edible items on site, but pets can only be fed a few items per day. A few ideas:

No Support.
Not every Achievement has to be quick to get. If this gets implemented in any way it should be tied to CSC, so that the site will be supported by the impatient
While I'm not necessarily averse to having ways to stimulate a pet's appetite, personally I would just be happy if hunger decreased regularly on the hour (as I've always believed it is supposed to).
Semi-derail...
As I mentioned a while ago I recently started paying much closer attention to when my pets get hungry, and the hourly drop only happens roughly 50% of the time. (To date: in seventeen days, my pets' hunger has fallen a total of 197/408 times.)
Nor does the alleged bonus for gourmand pets seem to be in effect, unless it's simply at a higher level than any of my pets have reached yet (my most advanced gourmet pet just surpassed 2,500 foods. His hunger always fell, or not, at the exact same times and exact same amounts, as pets who've eaten fewer than ten foods).
Even if hunger 'only' decreased one point per hour, if it happened consistently pets would get hungry at least twice as fast as they currently do. On the whole I'd rather see increased hunger as the default, and make use of (already existing!) items/bonuses that stop the pet getting hungry so fast, for those who aren't pursuing gourmand goals and just want well-fed pets for battle or whatever reason.
After all, "pets going hungry = bad" - currently, things that prevent pet hunger (Lakeview Resort, Infinity Berry) are generally seen as good and beneficial, while the only item I know of(?) that increases hunger (Malerias Clawed Glove) does it as a form of curse.
All that said...
Perhaps doing Pete's quests could have a chance to increase pets' hunger? (all pets, or only the active pet.) And/or, Pete could discover and sell us (whether for qp/cash) an item, or effect (i.e. something tied to the pet/account rather than resaleable), that makes your pet hungrier.
[edit]ETA belated thought... One other addition that might be useful: the option (for CSC, or possibly as a GA bonus?) to increase the maximum hunger of a pet, from 10 to 20 or 25. No benefit to people who are on Subeta feeding pets multiple times throughout the day; but presumably there are many others who can only get online for (say) a couple of hours each evening. Increasing the maximum would mean they are no longer wasting feeding opportunities by having their pet sink to 0/10 hunger and staying there for hours while the owner is offline.
. I’m not suggesting that achievements should be quick. I already have most of the food achievements, anyway, so that wasn’t really my motivation. But at the current rate my pet gets hungry, and if no new food items were added, it would take me five years to feed him what he hasn’t already eaten. I can be offline for 8 hours and come back to 6/10 still on hunger. That, to me, doesn’t make sense! I’m not looking for a way to keep my pet constantly hungry and just blast through all of the food. I’m looking for something that makes more sense. I’d be content with just increasing their hunger rate to every hour or two drop one point. But I’m offering alternatives and looking for suggestions from other people, in case Subeta has some reason for not doing that.
I agree that hunger does not change on any sort of reliable timeline. Very rarely, it will seem to drop three points, but usually it only drops that much over 8-10 hours for me. My gourmand pet has 2000+ foods. I’d also be content with just having it change at a more reasonable rate. Just offering alternative suggestions in case Subeta staff don’t want to do that for some reason. Thanks for tracking your pet’s hunger and sharing here! That really makes sense with what I’ve been seeing with my pet, too.

You actually can lower a pets hunger by using a malerias clawed glove with another pet in battle (it has a chance to make the non battling pets hungry/unhappy)
How about making it so that the zapper can make your pet hungry as well as full?
Thank you for the tip,
Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll add it to the first post.
[edit] My pet is suddenly more hungry today! I was offline for 8 hours and came back to 5/10, which is good for me. And has dropped two more points in the last two hours. Don’t know if someone’s tweaking it or today’s just a good day for me. :)

Not only did I think hunger was supposed to drop 1 each hour but I though I remembered reading a post saying that different kinds of food were supposed to affect hunger in different ways. Like candy didn't take 1 full point because it is candy. Tbh I never really payed attention.
I also thought I read that pets were supposed to get hungry faster during holidays due to the massive amount of food released but I think that was something an user suggested.
TBH, I'd be just happy if hunger dropped one point per hour reliably. That's enough to make feeding less annoying and time-consuming.
I agree completely. I’d prefer that it were that simple. Hopefully it’s something they can look into fixing and then only look into alternatives if they can’t or don’t want to. I’m posting suggestions for alternatives, just in case. :)

Yeah ngl with the current system I usually just feed 10 in the morning and then don't even bother until the next day. Rarely do I remember once because it feels like everytime I look it's dropped maaybe 1 point.
Reliability of 1 point per hour would be nice.
Also I always thought it was kinda odd that nothing effected hunger. Like, idk... finishing a training session should drop it a few points. Battling should drop it (doing stuff always makes me hungry, anyways).
Why yes, it did take me years.
Those of us like me who already have the Achievement did it without any sense-making. It was fun. And what's the sense of deleting 1000 pumpkins anyways? Some users thought of themselves or their pets smashing porch pumpkins and got this one right away, it was fun to them. Me: meh. Subeta's a game and it's a big game and you don't have to do everything all the time always. Some Achievements may not appeal to all users.
We can retire the current Gourmand Achivements to respect the food acquisition and feeding skillz of those of us who have it, and then make Sense-ible Eater Achievements that are easier to get?
I also wish hunger would consistently go down once an hour. In the past 10ish hours, I have only been able to feed my pet 2 things.
From what I think I've seen mentioned before, each hour your pet has a chance of losing one hunger point, but it's not guaranteed. So that's why sometimes it seems to take forever for them to get hungry, and some other times you get luckier and it decreases a bit faster. IDK exactly how high of a chance it is that you lose a point or not though.
I think technically, pets who have eaten a lot of different food items are supposed to get hungrier faster than other pets (to help make the achievement slightly easier). But as far as I can tell, that feature has never really worked properly. There used to be threads in the P&B forum about it a lot, but I don't think there's been much mention of it for a while.
So I'd really like to see that get fixed if possible, before trying to implement any other ideas.
I would really just be happy with hunger dropping consistently (whether it's on the hour, or 10 points over the course of the day, or whatever). I don't know that we really need items or features to drop hunger faster (especially if they won't work, since the "pets who have eaten more foods will get hungry faster" doesn't seem to) but if something could be done that it just drops consistently every time, I'd be so happy with that.
Thank you for the info! I didn’t realize it was a “chance” of decreasing every hour. I guess as long as I understand what’s going on, then it doesn’t seem so much like the system isn’t working.
. I totally get that and not trying to get Subeta to give me something I can just bang out over night. I honestly don’t mind working for years toward a goal on Subeta and have done so over my decade-plus here, so I get what you’re saying and am definitely not advocating for anything to happen quickly. I agree with your sentiment for the most part. My point was just that at the current rate my pet gets hungry, it would literally be impossible for me to ever be able to feed him all of the foods, as they continue to release new foods regularly and my experience with Subeta has always been that collections may be difficult or take a long time, but are usually achievable. I didn’t feed my pet much in my early years, so I don’t know what the hunger rate was then. I woke up this morning and checked and he had dropped six points and I nearly fell off my chair, ha ha. I guess that’s what really prompted me to post here...six points dropped after 8-10 hours offline doesn’t seem like it should be so shocking. I’m more used to four after being offline that long. Anyway, tldr is that I agree with you mostly...and just slightly disagree, ha ha. :)

for your question of past feeding/hunger, I can say that the rate has gone up and down. There was a period of time I remember when a large number of people were affected by a glitch that just refused to let their pets get hungry. This glitch was addressed by making getting hungry much faster. This was a huge bonus for me because I hadn't been affected by the glitch.
It also seemed to me that even at times when it was supposed to be consistent, it never was. Some people just always had slow to hunger pets, and others had faster to hunger pets.
Frankly, I don't think pet hunger has ever worked the way its "supposed" to.
I fully support pets losing 1 hunger point per hour, full stop. No random chance of losing hunger, no foods that fill more than 1 point, no activities that increase or decrease hunger. Only exceptions the infinity berry and Maleria's glove. This way people can plan when to feed, work on their achievements consistently and actually be able to accomplish it. Would still take years and be challenging, but it would be so much less frustrating. Yes achievements should be hard, but there's plenty to make the gourmand achievement challenging without adding the frustration of random hunger and uncertainty.

Here, here !! Yesterday, my pet dropped only three hunger points over a nearly 24 hour period. I love me some years-long, hard-earned achievements and high-scores listings, but have to know they’re at least mathematically possible!

I was thinking maybe have an item let's say "tape worm pills" in the cash shop for 500 csc.. use it on a pet and for 30 min - 1 hour the pet can't become full... and maybe even have it then wait 24 hours before you can use another one on any of your pets....

Whether the hunger goes up or down, I'm not really concerned with. But for those that are more concerned with battling than feeding their pets... We feed them 10 random items to get them able to battle. I feel like this would make it more difficult to battle easily, and also drive up prices of simple food items. (though, admittedly, I could be wrong on the second point, but my first one still stands.)
