I can hear you getting out your torches and pitchforks, but lower them and let me explain... in real life, molds are reusable. It's how swords and other items are more easily produced. I know, this is Subeta and real life doesn't always apply here (like toys and books going poof when your pet uses them), but as it stands I think the price for the molds is a little... ridiculous? 12m+ seems a bit much for an item restockable from the Sable Smithy, where everything else (Yunium Ore included) are more affordable. Hell, even the schematics are just 1 mil!
So that brings me to my next point; balance. A blacksmith is very well within his rights to ask for currency in exchange for using his equipment, because you're taking over his space and time better spent making other things. So, Mathis can charge us... say 5mil? To use his equipment. Even if the price for the mold goes down, there's still an sP sink in place, and we get to reuse our molds! Or even, the molds could have a durability? We could pay Mathis to patch / fix the mold for us so we can keep using it, or it not, it just breaks and we need to buy another from Mathis or a user!
Let me know what you think because if you're anything like me, I'm tired of paying 12m+ on what shouldn't be single use imo.
You think 12m for the mold is ridiculous (you can use it to get an exclusive gear-gender pet) and that the mold should be reusable, but on the other hand Reborn Potions are currently at ~43m. 😂
Serious talk: if he charges you 5m, you pay 12m for the mold and 1m for the instructions, that's 18m. 5m extra for every use (+1m per every set of instructions). 6m x 5 uses = 35m Mold breaks after 5 uses, you need to pay 12m+ again. People are sure as hell going to stock up on stone molds if that gets implemented, leading to - you guessed it - inflation of key stone molds. It might potentially lead to deflation of yunium keys, but those are also available year-round from the Menagerie. tl;dr - chaos.
How many steamwork pets does the average user even get, statistically? And why shouldn't potions be multiple-use then, too? That's an awful big bottle for your tiny wyllop to chug, going by this logic. ._.
I'd greatly prefer it if other potions were made more readily available and not dependent on token shop restocks to normalize prices. Put them in the MC, Esther's and various other holiday/currency shops. Especially because the recent blob & scootle craze drove even commonpose potion prices insane. Gold Potion is ~10m, Cream Potion is at 14m, Dawn is at ~10m. A Steamwork Stone Mold is cheaper than a Cream Potion. How's that for inflation by demand?
Special-posed potions, I can kinda understand, but it seems a bit weird that the cream elixirs are ~70-90k, but the Cream potion is 14m.
I'm going to have to agree with here. For all intents and purposes, the mold is a potion, just a cuter/more lore appropriate, potion. Considering most users will use 0-1 molds, I don't see the benefit to justify the programming time.
I mean, you could always just get the Yunium Key for tokens if you don't want to spend 12m on a mold. It's totally doable during Masquerade.
It's hard to support the mold being reusable (especially if you're not proposing that potions get the same treatment - I mean, I don't like paying 14m for a Nightmare Potion and that's being in the token Shop) when there is an alternative in this case.
Nah the potions are ridiculous too - I just don't have a suggestion for them to make them cheaper and balanced. :c It makes sense that potions are one-use but I hate that Cream Potions are 14m+. Also the 5m for using Mathis' equipment was just thrown out there as a suggestion. I just found it easier to liken using it to real life, but don't worry, I completely agree potion prices are utterly ridiculous.
Also I should add that you need the key whether or not you're making the gear gender pet.
Read above please abt the potions. ; w;
Is that an official staff no or...?
👍 No worries, we're cool!
Multi-use potions would open a hell of a can of worms with things like Angelic and Blacklight Potions (and any potential refunds involving them), so that's not something that'll happen. ._.
I would really like to see potions constantly available, though. I mean, Subeta always prided itself as a petsite where you can actually achieve your pet goals, and it's gotten to the point where potion prices need to be re-balanced by staff through token shop restocks. For common-posed potions, it definitely didn't help that we had two new pet species released basically back to back.
So yeah. I'd like them perma-stocked in various places. Or possibly unlockable as permastock after meeting certain requirements. Whether or not staff wants to keep them restockable/obtainable from lizard events is up to them. All I'm saying is that I wouldn't mind paying a bit more wizard tokens (or vesnali coins) to get my pet painted without having to wait for staff to bring the potion prices down to normal with all the other things they have on their schedule.
I could be wrong, but I feel that one of the biggest selling points for wiz tokens after vending got nerfed are the potion restocks.
Most of the special potions are r99 and restock in the Apothecary, so technically they could be obtained whenever. Or in the case of the glad potion, the empty thing you fill up restocks at Seedlings. I'm open to potentially moving them, but I just wanted to point out that they are available from more than just Token Shop. :)
I know. :'D But the empty thing is 23m, even though it's restockable.
According to Subetalodge, the apothecary has 794 items R1-99 that restock. 61 of those are R99 items (elixirs and statboosters included). 11 of those R99 items are the actual potions (commonpose and special posed). So the odds for the potions to restock aren't exactly stellar. On the other hand, demand is constant (esp after revamps and new releases). So you and Ariel end up having to step in to rebalance prices of things like graveyard, nightmare and reborn potions. Bloodred as a colour has some elixirs available, I believe that's kept the BR potion price somewhat balanced.
As a restocker, I would also like to point out that it's pretty commonplace to see 40+min between restocks for the Apothecary, but 14+min for the other shops is extremely uncommon.
How about the magic box
perfect, let me add all the potions for 10k wizard tokens in the BHH. users will love me forever
P sure we'll just pitchfork you Amber. 8|
Well.. the Smithy is kinda useless, let's be honest, there's nothing to do there except to restock this mold. So idk, close this shop and move the mold to the MC for an average price like you did with the melody potion and the rest of the items to somewhere else, or retire them, they have no use anyway except for the swords but there are other and better weapons for those tiers so even those swords are useless..
I agree with everybody about this suggestion.. it can be nice but not for Subeta unfortunately...
perfect let's do it
So are Home Appliances, Defend & Conquer and the Weapons Shop. ? Icy Goods is also useless, everything in that shop can easily get moved to other shops. Users have already suggested plenty of awesome and useful additions to the Smithy in this forum. There is no shortage of new things that could go into that shop. The problem is most likely that there are not enough artists to cover that while also working on things for holidays, pets, revamps, wearables, challengers and so on.
I'd suggest maybe looking into the weird restocking patterns for the Apothecary, and possibly checking how often the potions are restocking and vending (if some of them are vending at all) vs how often they're used. There's also no point for the Chibi and Dark Matter Potions to vend because those are constantly available through the MC, but that's just my view on it.
The token shop specialposed potion restocks went from initially being a great little boon to being required to keep prices normal, and that's not really fun for staff or users. ._. You guys end up having to keep track of this, and users are either waiting for a TS restock, or paying 20, 30, 40m for something that restocks so infrequently that it might as well not be stocking at all.
Plus, the more pets get released in specialposed colours, the higher the demand for the potions. Yep, lots of people will want a reborn scootle when it's released! But a lot of people also want a reborn feli, reborn endeavor, reborn mahar, paralix, etc. With limited potion influx, even the token shop potion restocks will have to be more frequent to keep the prices from going bonkers.
Speaking of the worst offenders in terms of specialposed potion pricing, as far as I could find the last Reborn Potion restock was in September last year - 9 months ago. Floral Pitchers were restocked in November last year (7 months ago), in two different TS restocks (they're required for glade potions as well as harvest potions).
So something is definitely a wee little bit off.
Home Appliances transformed many items into wearables so it gave them a nice use Defend & Conquer and Weapons Shop, at this moment, yes, when you can find many good weapons in other places, so those shops just needs a small change, adding new weapons for example.
Icy Goods is full of wears, minions, food etc..
But the smithy has no wears, minions, food.. only the weapons combo items and the mold.. also some items are without even a combo..
So maybe to decrease the amount of Alchemy items and start to make new combos from the Smithy items? this shop can have so much potential but it's just neglected for many many years, actually since it was open!
The materials (leathers, ores etc) were released in September 15, 2008 The shop itself and the weapons combos were released in October 1, 2008 Since then the ONLY update was to add the mold!
It's 10 years without any single update of new items.. I can't believe that in 10 years they couldn't find an artist..
You're looking at the wrong person for a solid explanation on the decade-long drought in Mathis' shop. 😂 I just gave what I feel is the most likely reason behind it.
Like I've said, there's literally no shortage of ideas or potential for the smithy: raw gems (real or fantasy), raw ore (real or fantasy), ingots (real or fantasy), alloys (real or fantasy), items and tools for forging + books about forging, etc. There's a topic on the first page of the Items subforum covering those suggestions, and more, if you want a peek.
So yeah, I really don't want the Smithy gone because it has ridiculous potential. If the Atebus shop gets to live, so should the Smithy.
