Apart from being a food item it does nothing it seems. Just used it on one of my Pets and the item just vanished. Impressive.

Well, I let my pet take a beating FOR SCIENCE (no, I definitely didn't forget I still had my Tier 3 weapons set as my default when I sent him up against Maleria's Familiar, don't be so silly shifty eyes) so I can confirm it does exactly what SubetaLodge says it does: heals 1000hp.
