So I got Pokemon Ultra Moon for my birthday today, and I was curious what kind of patterns others go with when making their teams. c: Do you use particular types? Nickname with a theme? Things like that!

Since Pokemon Black 2 I've always designed my teams in reference to different things I like, mainly tv shows and anime. So I name my trainer and pokemon after characters from a show, and pick pokemon that I both like and that suit the characters in question. For Pokemon Moon, I had themed everything after Gravity Falls - My trainer was Bill Cipher, my starter was a Rowlet named Pine Tree, I had an Alola form Raichu named Mable, and more but I've to load up the game to be sure of them all.

In Ultra Moon, I've decided to theme everything after the anime Mekakucity Actors, my trainer is named Shintaro, I picked Rowlet as my starter again, this time named Kido, and so far I have a Zorua named Kano. c:

I themed my last team around Hawaiian myth and culture. It was super fun to find out about the culture while choosing names!

Before this team I had a team named after the seven deadly sins (well six cause the team could only be six big.) The first ever team I nicknamed were all named after celebrity crushes but I don't want to talk about that haha.

Ohh, that's a really cool way of figuring out names!! And super fitting too! Can I ask which sin you ended up cutting, if you remember? And that's understandable, not wanting to talk about that team, on my second ever team I had a pokemon named after an online artist I really liked, it seems awfully silly to me now though. x:

When I make a team, i usually don't follow many rules/patterns lol I try and keep a few higher level than the areas I am in, just in case, but for the most part I go for a variety to increase the chance I have better attacks against the mons of the area lol I don't name very many, but I will name my starter. I usually go to Old Norse names that kind of align with their type/look.
