It would be cool if there was a way to see if a items is on people wishlist without going from list to list

There is. You go to Wishlist, then Search, put an item name in the field and it shows you all the people that have that item in their WLs.

In addition to the Search button that will show you a list of all the users with an item on their WL, there's also the search bar where you can search a specific user's wishlist for an item name, and it'll tell you if they have it on their WL, and the category it's in. That option is probably much more helpful for selling (and was just recently added)
I just want to pop in here to remind everyone that just because someone has an item on their wishlist, it does not mean they are actively seeking to buy it, and unsolicited advertising is against the rules. In fact, the rule specifically mentions wishlisted items.
