I want to create a link to the last page of a forum thread. I don't want to use the topic= code because that takes me to the first page. Just creating a url link to the current last page would mean a need to update that link every time there are more posts.

Basically I want to cut out the step of going to a thread then clicking the "last" button. But if I copy the link under the "last" button it just gives me a url to the current last page. Is there any way to create a link that will always go to the most current post?

well, there is the link to go to a topic's most recent unread post, which i think would work about the same most of the time.

with NUMBER being the number at the end of the topic's URL

Thanks. But I tried that out and no matter whether I've visited a thread or not, have that little talk thing or not, that link seems to always take me to the first page of the thread.

I'm thinking its just not possible, that the information I want to use doesn't exist except in javascript or something.
