Only the first seven topics in the General Creativity subforum have been posted on in the last three months. Seems silly to create new topics there when there are others still on the first page. I don’t usually post there, but I saw a thread I was interested in listed on the main forum page as having been recently posted on. I zipped over, ready to post and saw it had been locked as a necro. But it would have been within the top 15ish posts!
My suggestion is to alter the necro rule for this forum. And for any others that have the same issue. Maybe if the topic is still on the first page, it could be fair game to post on?

There's a similar problem in all the creativity forums. My graphics shop from September is still on the front page, near the bottom. I can't post another or bump it up. I've essentially been told that I should advertise in my forum signature if I want it to be bumped (nothing yet).
The necro'ing and not bumping rules made sense when the forums were more active, not so much any more.
Like Aesop, I’d like to see some looser restrictions for the profile and art market subforums. Even six months later the ‘discussion’ is relavent to the OP and participants. It seems a bit too much micromanaging to say these threads can’t be necroed if the original post still reflects the work offered for sale and they otherwise comply with forum rules.
“Hey guys, after four months I’ve got time for slots again! Check first post for updated samples! Hashtag group ping” “Don’t necro your own shop thread. Locked.” Seems harsh.
Like Jigglypuff "Too often have I commented on a thread on the first page only to realize that the person above me's comment is from months and months ago."
Posting on the forum is supposed to be fun and helpful in gathering information .... most of us are focused on subject matter and forget to check the date of the last post. If the subject is relevant to a specific topic we want to address, then who cares if it is 6 mos. old ................. what difference does that make ................ most things on Subeta are re occurring events and/or problems and come around Every Year!
If it is such an infraction to post on old posts either extend the time limit or just lock them.
I agree that the necro rules could use a refresh and a rethink. They're quite stifling at the moment. A lot of them don't make sense with forum activity where it is now - and people being scared of being penalised for bumping a topic they shouldn't doesn't help matters. A lot of the stickied threads are from say 2010, 2011 and... don't look like they've been updated since then. It's be great if staff could take a fresh look at this. :)
I agree that relative forum activity should be a factor in necro rules, there are some forums where the activity level just doesn't make sense.
Alternatively, if the rules stay the same, it would be nice to have some sort of an auto-lock system where necro-able threads aren't hanging around waiting for someone to post on it. (This may not be possible, but I can dream)
