i've recently taken up playing and my first character is a drow monk of noble background named yeoné. he starts his adventure after being uprooted from his home once his family is killed over the throne and he chooses a more selfish than righteous path. i'd love to hear about what your characters are like. :^D
Aah I love his design! I play a drow in our campaign as well!
Burana (the name is a common painkiller brand in Finland) is a necromancer whose essential approach to necromancy is that it's merely a very effective form of first-aid. They are the son of the family wizard of house Godeep, but due to Events, had to flee from their home - they've started to introduce themselves as Burana Godeep ("Godeep or gohome"), even though technically that's not their last name.
Also ridiculously tall (210 cm / ~6'8"), and has approximately the strength of an elderly gnome. They're currently neutral evil, so a rather selfish character as well, and not particularly trustworthy.
Fun fact: They think our half-elven sorcerer is half elf half fish, and they're terribly afraid of horses.

Brunhilde Hammerfall, aka Hilde. She's a Chaotic Weird Volcanic Dwarven Druid... Her family was kicked out of the volcano for political reasons, so she was raised in the swamp. She lost her brother (actually lost, not dead) when they went chasing after wisps. She accidentally became a member of a fungus-demon worshiping cult. She wields an Askin' Stick. She has eaten three men as a giant snake demon. Most recently, she has stopped an evil god from being born by stomping on a demon and a pregnant lady as a giant doom bunny. Sadly, she has now become possessed by said demon herself so we shall see what adventures that brings :D
Ah, I love their design! Is your avatar them as well? I'm new to D&D, so I don't have much experience yet. I joined a group and the DM ended up being a bit of a jerk, so I bounced. I was playing as Kex Beli, a half-orc raised by her single father in a small town in the mountains. She saved her father from a boar attack at a fairly young age. Her dad was crippled from the attack, while Kex just got minor scars. She will choose a boar when she goes down the Path of the Totem Warrior route. Chaotic good, bit of a bull in a china shop, not aware of her own strength and lacking tact.
I love Burana's design - they look sassy and fashionable and kickass. I'm jealous of everyone's art _ The TC you made for them is beautiful, and dat pinterest board. I wanna go make a ton of D&D character pinterest boards now.
More awesome art! Love the bold colors. She sounds like she's led a pretty eventful life, wow!
YES HELLO I JUST- trips and all my D&D beans fall out. I play Pathfinder, 5e, Aces & Eights, and OpenLegend right now! Also I see that Molly pet.
I love Yeoné!! Could be righteous but... nah beans are my jam.
Also "hates loud noises" is a huge mood.
I hhaavee: Lyel, my quartermaster who will sell your soul for a cornchip. Will sell his for own free. He's for a spy campaign and I get to use my terrible Scottish accent. He's the healer and probably won't reveal he is the healer for ages lmao.
Icarus, my soft, good cleric of Desna who is afraid of everything and just wants snacks. The healer who cries a lot.
Rakesh, who I made to fill the soldier / charismatic role for a game and then uuhh made him grumpy but it's fine!! He is very tanky and will knit you a scarf.
Hild, who is one of my favorites to play but he can't! Roll! Above a 5! One time he climbed down a cliff with advantage. Rolled a nat 1. Rolled a 5. Negative 3 to strength. "Uuh that's a 2." He fell down the cliff. Died very quickly, this poor bean. He got better!
Tyb, a warlock who is pretending to be a wizard because warlocks are heavily frowned upon in the game he's in. He is a petty boi.
Peaches who is a dragoon in a 5e/Shadowrun mix game. They JUMP really good and don't remember much of anything except they can JUMP and they love DOGS.
Joseph, he's a retired military bean whose missing a leg and has a dog named Whisky. He tries to help. He's not very good at it. Also has a terrible horse named Snips because Snips is valid to eat fingers. (He's also an NPC in my solarpunk game; same bean, different dog and not retired aha.)
Thank you! :3 I do love half-orcs a lot. I keep making half-orc characters.
I love Lyel. His art with the demon is so good. How long have you had all your characters? It's so cool you have a pet for each, and a collection of art for them!
Thank you! nvn (I really need a half orc... my weakness is half elves.)
Lyel is my newest, and he's only been in an one-shot so far a few months ago, but the full game will probably start later this year.
Icarus is my oldest at a few years old? Hild is technically like.... 9 years but he's only recently been played as a D&D character. If I'm remember correctly it's I started playing about three years ago with these, with Icarus being the oldest then Hild, Joseph, Tyb, Peaches, Rakesh, Lyel. I,,, love me some D&D aha.
You're welcome! And half orcs are fun. I have ... 2?
Ah, that's awesome! You've adapted existing characters into D&D characters, then? I'm new to D&D -- I have a few characters I made for fun as I was getting familiar with it, and then Kex (mentioned above). I'm playing a 2-person game with my gf since we both want to play and stuff keeps not working out. I'm enjoying it a lot so far! It's like RP + D&D and it's been a nice creative outlet and a fun hobby to have together. Do you play in-person or mostly online or?
Hild, Joseph, and Rakesh are adapted OCs (Rakesh was actually a like... guard side of a side character in the background? And I was like y o u), and the rest were made for their respective games!
A 2-person game sounds fun! My friend and I have considered it because we have all these D&D stuff but... no one around to play with. I mostly play online through Discord or Roll20. nvn
Haha, it's funny how side/background characters can just sometimes capture your interest. It happens all too much when I'm writing, and then I make a side story about them or something. Haha.
It's been a lot of fun so far! We only started this last week, but have played a handful of hours already. It's definitely cool to experiment with stuff and do stuff our own way and have fun. I joined a few Discord groups, but haven't found the right group so this seems like the best bet right now.
I hope you don't mind chatting about D&D with me!
Beheld is "I made an NPC and oH NO I'm attached now" striking once again. B')
Yeah groups can be very hit or miss... I tend to play with the same handful of people now. But the important thing is you're having fun!
I love D&D and could talk all day aha,,
WOW so delayed, this got buried in my ignored notifications ;n;
Do you usually have a pet already and work the NPC around them, or do you pick a word for them once you create the NPC?
My current campaign keeps taking forever to get to the big moments because we keep adding stuff. Which totally isn't a problem, I'm loving it, it's just funny how a story can go from one thing to another. It was going to mostly be an adventuring story about a flirtatious party, but we haven't even got to the point where the party is formed because it took a turn and has a different cast of characters than expected haha.
I have the NPCs/PCs beforehand. Sometimes I get lucky and get their names (like Kotos, Hild, Lyel), other times I pick a word that seems fitting.
Ahaha sounds about right! Either all story or "we found this dog. We will devote three games to this dog." A whole different cast though? That sounds like fun. nvn
Im dming a campaign for my friends!! Also my fav pc is my teifling sorcerer chance! She’s undead and makes a lot of bad puns to cope with her trauma
they/them
