Cabaret (real name undecided) grew up in a financially struggling family but his beloved grandmother taught him to flaunt his pride and his beauty, even if life was difficult and heartbreaking at times. She’d been a flapper back in the 20’s, she knew how the world could be so cruel, and like hell she was going to let her grandbaby let that tear him down. Her daughter and son-in-law were not too comfortable being outspoken, preferring to stay quiet and be forgotten by others, but from the time he was an itty bitty child, Cabaret was completely starstruck by all the photos of Granny in her flashy costumes, cigarette in hand and a drink in the other. As he grew up, he knew wanted to be just as fierce and bold as her, to feel like he was free from the claws of society, to acknowledge he was his own beautiful, intelligent individual. School was a hardship that he took head on, determination spurring him on with a goal in mind: making himself a castle, a sanctuary, a home where he and others could be themselves and show the world what they’re made of. Cabaret scraped by, making ends meet with odd jobs to help his family, and studying at every chance he had. Aside from his dream, Cabaret was passionate about two things: reading and singing. His family often caught him vocalizing his studies out loud as practice but no one stopped him. His mother always praised him, regretful now that she never had such drive and fire in her soul. Now in his late twenties, Cabaret has earned his castle and made it a haven not only for himself, but for others who don’t want to be just another face in the crowd. His home is a casual night club called The Peacock’s Roost, not far from the main stretch of a fairly big city.

As a person, Cabaret is considerably flashy in appearance but humble in disposition. He’s commonly asked about being a drag queen, wearing feminine burlesque clothing when he’s out on the floor with patrons, but he simply states he is who he is in reply. Even though he gets so magnificently dressed up each night, he’s usually found off to the side of the club’s main room, draped across a plush loveseat with a book in his hands. Some nights, he’ll take the stage and sing, but he’s found that he prefers singing in the presence of close companions rather than a crowd of mostly strangers. The Roost has a relaxed atmosphere and is run by the people Cabaret has “adopted” in. They’ve become a family, some members even jokingly calling Cabaret their “mom”, but they’ve got their own dynamics with each other. Cabaret has a soft spot for all of them and would do all he can to make sure everyone is safe, healthy, and comfortable while they’re working for him. Cabaret loves to learn about people, having the curiosity of a small kitten all the time, but he's very respectful of others' wishes too. He speaks softly but with a tone of authority, driving home that "motherly" feeling he gives people. When it comes to the closed-minded though, Cabaret will have absolutely none of it, and won't back down from chastising a rude guest. If all is well in the club, he is sociable and warm to everyone, even handing out free drinks generously if he's in a fitting mood.
