I didn't see a topic, so I figured I'd start one.

I'm able to defeat the challengers up to The Shadow, but I find that my pet is outmatched by El Tigrean. Is it do-able with a tier 10? Recommended weapons/strategy? I feel like since it hits so hard chain freezing is the way to go, but he keeps freezing me :/

I feel like I was able to defeat El Tigrean last year with my t10 but not this year? but my memory is crappy so I can't say for sure. though to be fair I haven't strategized with El Tigrean this year, gonna take a look at icon type it deals and get back with a strategy. Feels a shame to not be able to touch El Tigrean. T_T

okay, notes on his moves:

Spiked Punch: 11 magma, 18 phys, 9 dark, 16 water, block 25 phys

Barbed Insult: 14 fire, 15 dark, 10 earth, 14 ice

Barrel Roll: 29 earth, 5 wind, 25 phys, 3 fire, block 15 earth and 15 wind

Chain of Command: 18 light, 19 phys, 31 wind

Eye of El Tigrean (Blessing): block 10 light and block 10 dark, 100 hp heal

looks like phys, earth, wind blocks + regular light, dark blocks from blessing and offense wise, big icons for phys (3 attacks), earth (2 attacks), dark (2 attacks), also for wind, light, water, magma, ice

this leaves... icons not blocked = magma, fire, water, ice icons to block = phys, earth, dark +/- wind, light, water, magma, ice

time to do some weapons analysis oy haha

notes - flayed lord breastplate - blocks all types of icons except water, ice deadwood scissorbeak - blocks water, does magma/fire icons + earth cobalt eternal scrolls - don't block water or magma

tried conservative breastplate + scissorbeak approach, but failed T_T freeze protection doesn't last as long as I want with my battle helmet D: could only get down to 2k hp before dying. rip, my t10.

kinda feel like I need to get lucky and have oracles short sword activate healing blessing, frost thorn activate freezing, or maybe I should delay using the helmet and first use shriek of despair scroll for freezing with recycle blaster and soma tablets without blocking, live on the wild side haha :'D have to look at strategy with potions next

- yes, it's doable with a T10, but it is very difficult and you'll need some luck. I just did it with Tos who is an even build low T10 (all stats about 1660). It took me 54 losses to get those 5 wins. Chain freezing isn't an option, since his blessing prevents him from being frozen after the first turn. So I went with a lot of blocking/healing and trying to get/keep up a Parched Blessing.

For the fifth win, I used: Deluxe Death Shard, Recycle Blaster, Blessed Trident, Hydragellos Maniacal Core, Shinwas Short Sword, Amulet of Neutrality, Shinwas Temple Shard, and Phoenix Quill along with Aftershocks and two Gift of the Forj Scrolls.

Earlier I was using Mirroring Shield of Brilliance instead of the core.

I recommend lots of Parched weapon mods (and a few Critical Strike tears too).

Personally, I prefer an attacking 100 percent freezer over the Intricate Energized Helmet for him because he'll almost always freeze you the first round. Since the helmet's freeze protection only lasts two rounds (the second and third), I'd rather get in some damage and hope to activate the Parched Blessing I'm going to need anyway.

I freeze plus blast the first round, but he one hit me many times, so you might prefer to freeze plus block/heal and blast while he's frozen.

anyway, my t10 is toward the higher end, 1860s in stats except health which is 1960s. I got a win yay!

used intricate energized helmet + blaster + cobalt eternal scroll first round then soma tablets + shinwas temple shard + morosbane scroll as he had frozen me when I froze him 1st round then oracles short sword + deadwood scissorbeak + cobalt eternal scrolls (I have 5 in total) sometimes used some shards like dark and earth and healed with rotl and phoenix quill when needed didn't even need my oracle's healing blessing activated (it does 1k hp heal) 8D wonder if I can replicate the win, feels like it was mostly luck :'D edit: got a 2nd win when oracles short sword activated its blessing ❤️ and now a 3rd, the day they nerf oracles short sword blessing is the day I will ragequit the battledome I s2g it is a godsend haha

- glad to hear you're finding a way to win. There is definitely luck involved since he freezes so much and you need to keep a Parched Blessing activated. After that, any way you can block his icons and get an attack through plus heal from his attacks works. Up until October of 2016 I pretty much didn't have any of those weapons either - and I don't own either of the GoTF scrolls I'm using or Shinwas Temple Shard - they're all on loan from battle friends. So don't get discouraged. Sometimes a blessing/curse is all the extra help needed. And shards/potions can be a big help. Don't forget about Pylonics and the newer throwing vials. yay, I got 5 wins in with my measly weapons only had to use negating pylonic on my 5th win it's totally possible to win x5 with a t10 and crappy weapons, y'all

LOL - I had forgotten where the throwing vials originally came from. They can sometimes be very helpful and at least used to be less expensive than the pylonics.

You can usually find a way to win with less expensive weapons. Sometimes, you need to have higher stats than if you are using the "best possible" weapons. Scrolls and weapon mods can also help. At some point, you will need expensive weapons and scrolls to beat the very toughest challengers if that is your goal. You also need them to beat challengers when your pets are still at lower stats or tiers. That said, it's a game, and everyone has to choose what approach works best for them. If you are having fun, then that's all that counts in the end. :-)

I used to be more into battling but have just gotten back into it after a long hiatus. T_T Yeah, I prefer the let's strategize approach over best weapons possible. My budget goes into my wardrobe haha. xD plus I feel so accomplished if I figure it out with my weapons too

- lots of battlers enjoy the puzzle part of battling. That's definitely a big part of why I enjoy it. :-) Fortunately for me, I have almost no wardrobe - so no wardrobe expenses. The big question is do I want to start buying lots of battle stuff. So far, I haven't really decided. :-) The good news is that anything I do get can be shared by all four of my battle pets eventually.

that sounds great, you can focus on battling then! :D I like to buy cheap weapons because I feel like my armory is diversified then plus they look pretty xD though finding things is a royal nightmare but options are options, I guess? I'm loving the revamp to the battledome, I wish I returned from battling hiatus earlier, so many bqs missed .__.

- Yeah I'm edging towards T11. Thanks for the offer, I don't think I'll have much time these last few days.

Hopefully in the next few months I can get the recommended T10/11 weapons and supplement my set!

I managed 10 wins with my high T10. I used

Blessed trident, OHS, soma, rblaster, pquill, reviver, energized helmet and rv. The rev can be replaced with either a third healer or third weapon if you don’t have a full blocker. The wrestlers tend to do a lot of earth, physical and wind damage so blocking two of those is ideal. El tigrean can only be frozen the first turn so use the helmet then and blast next turn if he doesn’t freeze you.

Good scrolls to use are SE and cobalt. Mod with parched to protect from freezing. I also like to mod with crit strikes to do more damage to help end the battle faster.

What tier is your pet, 7? He does a lot of earth and physical so the turkey quill would work well and maybe the Minotaur knocker to block earth. Scrolls will be your best defense so either cobalt/SE if you want to block. Definitely bump up your intel to equip more scrolls.

: I didn't catch that he has an anti-freeze blessing. My go-to freezer is the Scientist Specs. I have two Shrieks of Despair, two Cobalts, and one SE.

I don't know if I can come up with the funds for new weapons before the end of Survival. I'll try to find cheaper dual-duties. I do have a MIrroring Shield of Brilliance for a physical blocker, though.

I prefer the helmet for him since he can freeze you and the helmet grants a blessing that protects you from freezing for two turns. Yes El tigrean will be protected from freezing after the first turn so your freezing scrolls won’t be of use. What healing/ infinite use scrolls do you have?

: I only have Divine Denizhen and Gelaspell.

Divine denizhen may work. It unfortunately doesn't have an attack. If you can buy an aftershocks scroll, that would be better
