Greetings and salutations! You may have noticed by now I think Subeta needs more naturally curly hairstyles. :P By naturally curly I mean black hair, to be clear; permed, salon curls are lovely and amazing, but definitely more plentiful here already. Several years ago I made a thread like this pointing out that we had more clown wigs than actual afrocentric hair, and that got us somewhere! But we still go months without a new naturally curly hairstyle. I ask simply for the sake of representation, to see hair similar to my ethnic hair become more common and not something I have to go searching for. :D Not to mention, get afrocentric released a little more regularly.

A few points:

1. Naturally curly hair has many textures just like other hair, so artists should pay attention to the texture of hair as they draw!
2. Dreads are great and amazing but definitely not the only naturally curly hairstyle out there, don't be afraid to get creative
3. I've seen some great natural hair styles in collection items, but lets not limit these styles to the cash shop. There is a salon store in the main subeta shops that could use some natural curl hairstyles
4. Natural curls can also have a fantasy/sci fi spin, fun colors and accessories, etc

Here is not what I mean by naturally curly hair:

While a lot of items on the site kind of work halfway for this purpose, you can usually tell if they where designed as salon curls or simply waves of fine hair. Some of what gives that away is the straight bangs or other chunks of hair that can be pulled straight and it's simply straight wavy hair. Beautiful, but not quite what I'm talking about when I say natural curls- I mean something more afrocentric.

So you can see, there are a plethora of styles, and lots of these will also be useful for anyone on the site to use as wigs while also showing a level of representation we're a little short on currently. They can be released for any holiday, in the cash shop or in general shops or game prizes, challenger loot, redeemable wigs, etc.

Ideally this isn't a one and done thing, or a flood of items like these and then being finished; I'm hoping some afrocentric hair items can be more casually released for many of the sites holidays, and this thread can be a starting point for references and ideas.

[edit] Oh, if artists want to do their own googling for more references, try these keywords (combined with "natural hair" or "curly hair" if you need to get more specific): protective styles, bantu knots, box braids, cornrows, twist out, Ghana Braids, faux locs, Havana twists, crochet braids, double halo braid, rope twists, senegalese twists, yarn locs, natural afro, natural curls, tapered afro Also adding "for men" at the end of most searches will get you good results for masculine natural curls~
