[Beastiary] (Scientific name in parenthesis)

Prodont i[/i] Roughly the size of a hippo/rhinoceros. It comes in varying species sizes and inhabits areas in mid-northern Boska, Ekor, and Xojang. It resides close to lakes and rivers, and prefers moderate to heavily wooded areas like bears. It is a marsupial and they travel in family/female groups, while males often travel alone.

Hycleds i[/i] A tiger with a bit of hyena/bear like omnivorous-scavenger thrown in when prey is scarce. Has been known to eat fish and eggs if given the chance, this stocky marsupial predator resides on the thinner outskirts of the woods and forests in Xojang and Boska, though it's smaller subspecies resides in Ekor and Tarketh. It's strong jaw, made for hunting larger prey, can kill with one bite, severing the windpipe and breaking bones. It travels alone or in family units and is regular predator of the Diprotodon

Gyllipi[/i] Roughly the size of a volkswagon beetle car in length, but flatter. This grazing beast is found in grasslands near waters in many southern continents. They are solitary creatures with a strong outer shell, a bony protective skull and spiked tails make them a valuable resource to many villages

Epech i[/i] Epech, along with other similar sub-species, is a wolf/lion like predator that weighs about as much as a polar bear. Various versions of their species can be found in Boska, Ardassus, Ekor, Tarketh and Ithicas. Smaller species weigh up to 150lbs, those being found in the warmer, more southern climates of Ekor, Tarketh and Ardassita. It has a powerful bite, which can be impossible to release once it has bitten down. Many have become domesticated and bred to be used as guardian beasts for the wealthy or royal.

Seteras i[/i] roughly around 6ft in length, traveling in small family herds similar to deer. The horns are their noses are used for territorial purposes, from fighting to marking trees and earth. Ancient Elgari have hunted them for years and their antlers are a popular accessory.

Cabor i[/i] One of a handful of 'bear-dog' type species scattered across Alteria. Larger ones can be found in Xojang, Ipweh-Mas, Kaokaz, Ekwila and sometines in Ynsidhe and Nona. Baruk Cabor are one of the smaller types of its kind, found in Boska and Ithicas, though sometimes in Kentz and northern Ekor. It is a common predator, like that of a coyote or wolf, with a strong body and has been known to migrate if food in it's territory is scarce.

Merciapus i[/i] Smaller than a horse and many pony breeds, it's known for it's intelligence and agility. It's known to roam the plains of southern Boska and as far as the outskirts of the Tarketh straights--a barren, stone earth that only scrub grass can grow on.

Religions

Ardassus: Elgari "originated" in Ardassus

Alteria is the name of the world, but it is also the name of the religious ‘mother’ that the Elgari believe in. She is their creator. In the beginning, Mother Alteria, felt sad and empty. and so she grew the trees, dug rivers and raised mountains. Still, it felt like something was missing. She gave birth to the animals, gave them all shapes and size. Still, something was missing. She felt lonely. This time, she created the Elgari. At first, there were five. She gave them the ability to talk with her, through the plants and through the animals. The Elgari of old could grow a tree from a single seed with just a touch, could share their minds with the animals, borrowing their bodies to better understand them.

Ithicas: Multi-god religion. “Pray to the gods, if the gods allow”

Akella - oldest sister, light, harmony, understanding, happiness, fortune Mor - heat, the sun, eldest brother, power, strength, perseverance, the hunt Donnavera - greens and waters, middle, brother of the earth, rains and crop growth Ulpo - youngest, undefined gender/depicted as male/female/genderless depending on the storyteller or artist. unpredictable/mysterious. Has no true ‘assignment’, but many consider them a guide to one’s own self or in journey/pilgrimages etc.

Natal: mother, life. Huon: father, death.

Ekor: (God) created the (Blue people) it is known. He spent 3 days searching for just the wood to carve the first people of Ekor out of. It was a beautiful deep reddish brown, and (God) was quite pleased with his creations. But the Ekorians were not pleased they wanted to be all “the colors of the wind”. They cried out to (God) to change their color the deep blue of the great ocean. (God) replied to the people saying that if he were to change them, he wouldn’t be able to see them if they were to go swimming. The next day the people cried out, asking (God) to change them to a the green of new growth trees. (God) explained that green wood is too young and weak to work with. The next day the people cried out to (God) to be turned to color of gold so they would always shine. At this point (God) was angry with Ekorians and he told them that he chose that color because it was the most beautiful color in the world, and they should be proud to have been made from such a impressive type of wood. But the Ekorians were not happy they stamped their feet and yelled at their god. They wanted to be all the colors of the world. They were not content with this simple brown color. (God) was furious that the Ekorians were not happy with his choice and their selfishness. He became so angry that he decided to punish his creations. He burnt them to ash, removing all the color from their bodies. The burning lasted a whole day and the sky filled with smoke, the smoke lingered for several days. When the smoke finally cleared and (God) looked down upon his creations. —They looked back up at him and told him they didn’t need him anymore. With their new white ash bodies, the Ekorians had in the found out how to color themselves. They were all the colors of the world and— (God) proceeded to “punish” the people for abandoning him. He stopped the rains--but the Ekorians created irrigation, and stole the water from the rivers and sea. (God) sent them disease, and they created medicine to cure the sick. (God) sent them war, and they created weapons greater than any enemy dared to contest with... and with each punishment, (God) grew weaker from the power he spent on his wrath. His glory became less and less as the years grew on, until his existence was naught but a memory in the books of his creations.
