Currently the custom forum feature of forum groups is not great, especially as they're considered the replacement for cults. You're limited to 3 total boards, navigation is wonky (you need to navigate back to the forum group page or main forums to switch between two boards), and the admin tools include the option of moving a thread to any board on site as opposed to boards that the admin either has access to or is in that particularly forum group.
Is it reasonable to ask for subforums, more than 3 boards per forum group, and better navigation/admin controls?

-move thread option not listing what seems to be every subboard on subeta -forum navigation not needing you to leave the forums/boards to navigate from one board to another (e.g. if you wanted to go from one subforum to another, not having to go through the main forum group page w/ bank/shared items/etc) -actual subforums -i don't know why on the thread list under the mod header it says "checkbox" but i genuinely don't know what that means
The mod header Checkbox used to be a checkbox that allowed for mass moving forums but it was deactivated.
Agreed, especially point 2.

It'd be nice if they were able be integrated with the main forums more instead of feeling like an afterthought. I'm part of four groups and it's weird to just see them bunched at the bottom of the page; if we had more control of how forums are ordered and grouped I think it'd increase activity. Also I wish we could edit the default green pencil to give them more identity.
And I've mentioned it before but you can see someone's posts on private boards by looking at their Recent Posts, and it'd be great if this was changed.
Yeeesh, forum groups still feel really unfinished and sad, even after a tiny bit more polish was added to them. ._. I have a small novel about all sorts of improvements that could be done, but it feels that this isn't the topic for it.
Full agreement on everything the OP suggested, and the nice little "feature" that brought up about private forums. If my group is private, it's private for a reason. Only site staff should be able to see posts in private groups, thanks.
Also, I think forum group posts still add to your post count? Not sure if that is a good thing or not, or if you can get forum tickets from it. Too lazy to check. You shouldn't be able to, IMO, because you can basically make a private forum group, spam the living shit out of it for forum points/forum boxes in December, then delete the group to hide the evidence, sell the loot, repeat as necessary.
[edit] Tested. Took a bit for the cache to catch up, but your posts in forum group forums (private or not) definitely do count toward your post counter. I'm hesitant to test the gain of forum points, staff can check that easier than I can anyway.
You definitely can gain forum points, gift boxes etc from private forums. I've had it happen quite a few times. I agree that if they can't be regulated they shouldn't count towards such features.
Thanks for clearing it up! I only really post in one private group I own, I didn't remember if I got forum points from it or not and I didn't want to spam to see if I could get them. :'D
That really seems like something that should be removed because it's so easy to abuse. :/ Heck, last Lumi, the spamming was going on in the official Luminaire forums for the sake of forum giftboxes and staff had to step in and ask folks not to do it.
