I've used several different digital art programs in the past, including a trial/free version of Photoshop, finally am able to have a full version (subscription) to Photoshop/Essentials.
I feel like I am starting over/starting from scratch.
I even got the Photoshop for Dummies Book for Christmas. That's how photoshop dumb I am now. What are some of the best beginner to low-intermediate tutorials you guys can think of?
some days I'm ready to just be done and download SAI again, but I really want to master this program. :I
Hi I'm using Photoshop CS6 for years and I can tell I keep discovering things though I do know the program very well.
The best advice I can give you which I got one as well when I started....Experiment with it. A lot. Play around with each function to see what it can do (or not can do). And if things can go wrong you can reset the whole programs to how it was.
While you're experimenting you can look up on Youtube for many tutorials which can help you when you get stuck or don't know how something works. It really depends on what you want to learn or want to know. There's for everything a tutorial which is also one of the many ways I learned to get along with photoshop (and one big book).
My favorite tutorials are these: Introduction to painting in Photoshop How to make a comic inking brush in Photoshop (After you have seen this one you can easily make your own brushes. This is how I learned it).
Also Kyle T. Webster. has some amazing brushes as well to get you started which you can find here for free. (There's also a tutorial in it on how to import brushes into Photoshop).
I hope this helps a bit and if you have any questions feel free to ask me :)
oh thanks so much! I'll take a look at those tuts as soon as I can. Last night I was up til almost 2 trying to figure out why my libraries were not syncing, after much cursing and use of the F word I figured out one of the program files was in the wrong folder...
WAT. :I
this will be a learning experience definitely xD
oh man am I ever with you! I used to draw a TON years and years ago and had pretty much mastered Photoshop CS5 for digital painting... fast forward 7 years and I juuuust got a new tablet and brand new photoshop program and i don’t know how any of it works and I’m constantly frustrated by how it seems so much more difficult than it used to be!
Don’t mind me asi lurk and steal tips ;)
That has never happened to me. How weird. I hope it works for you now. It's going to be a lot of fun trust me ;)
Also if you would like I post often tutorials on drawing and photoshop mostly which you can see here. (Don't look at my art blog. It's all old and my style has changed a lot haha).
Yay another photoshop user! high five!
tuts yesplz! oh lol don't even talk about changing art styles - my art style is the very definition of inconsistent. :X
oooh just looked at the tumblr blog - following now - lots of very nice stuff!!
I do have a bit of a consistent but only in my line work. My coloring and the way I draw eyes has changed quite a lot in last two months.
Thank you! And for the follow too :) I'm glad you like it.
Lynda.com has a lot of great tutorials, they let you do a 30 day free trial and a lot of public libraries will let you use your library card to log in to the full version for free!
where no one has gone before.
