A warning ahead of time: this post is probably going to be a poorly worded clusterfuck because my brain is full of dust and squirrels. This has been on my mind for a while, but the recent shenanigans with the style tags/malformed HTML pushed me to post it.

I also don't know how code-intensive this would be, if it's even possible to begin with. :'D To me, it seems like it could be pretty useful and I'm curious about what others will say.

You know how you can upload and host your own .CSS file offsite and, with some effort and coding wizardry, link to it on a pet profile for ease of use? I'd be interested in something similar for Subeta.

I am not suggesting a file upload! I'm suggesting a page where you can input a base/main/faux-file pet profile CSS code that you can then checkbox select or deselect to use on a pet profile. Ideally the option to select it (as well as a link to go to the page to edit it) would be on the same page where you go edit the pet's profile.

For those two have 20+ pets but use a very similar (or identical!) pet profile code for all of them with minor tweaks, this would be a godsend.

And let's say that, for example, you have the faux-file CSS (going to keep calling it this in the post for the sake of simplicity) set up to arrange your pet profile in a single column. But on one profile you want to move the minion way off to the left. You could still tick the faux-file CSS option for that pet profile, but you would still be able to move the minion in the pet's profile coding without messing with the faux-file CSS. If you want to have a completely custom pet profile? You just untick the option to use the faux-file CSS and go wild.

Another reason why this would be useful? Some pet profiles can be ridiculously chunky in coding and story, and there is a character limit on pet profiles (no idea on the exact number of characters, though). A faux-file CSS would have the potential to free up some of that space for those who like writing really hefty pet stories.

Also, it would make it supereasy to change literally all of your pet profiles at once. No screwing around with offsite stuff. No 1-4 seconds of waiting after the page loads for your offsite CSS file to jarringly kick in. No dependence on anything other than Subeta for your code to stay up and readily available. Easy, quick tweaks onsite. For all of your 30, 40, 50, 80+ pets.

Bonus idea: a GA option that makes it so you can upload more than one faux-file CSS.

Thoughts?

Full support here. I especially like the tidbit about the GA option. I bet lot of people on site would use it. I don't have that much pets imho but still, as someone who dares to set up a profile (with lots of help from my friends) for them from time to time, yes. All my yes.

o_o ...Say what?!

Humm this sound interesting... a bit like where we can override the CSS coding of Subeta (the CustomCSS) but it would be for pet page and it would be seen by everyone visiting?

Like if you prefer having all your pets with the same font type - color and size and play with the way the stats are showed and you want them all the same and not having to copy the code to all of them?

This sound like a nice idea to me.

Sorry for the superlate reply. :'D Glad you approve! Even for things like pre-formatting a profile (removing postcards, footer, etc.), this would be helpful.

Yup! Exactly like that. You'd have the option to select which pets it would apply to. So if you want most of your pets to have matching, simple profiles, but you want your spotlight pet to have a superfancy one, you would be able to pick what you want to do.

(love your username btw)
