Everyone probably thought up of some goals to complete this year in honor of the new year. What are some of your new year's resolutions? Is it to bake the most delicious chocolate cookies? Make the Quidditch team? Learn a new skill or special ability?

This week’s theme is New Year’s Resolution!

Your challenge this week is to create a Human Avatar depicting your student completing one of their resolutions.

Some rules for this challenge: 1.) Do not depict the same activity you did in HA Challenge - Common Room Downtime. 2.) Bonus points may be awarded to particularly creative entries!

Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points!

This challenge will end on Sunday, January 21st at 11:59PM!

Niamh's resolution is to learn to sew.... unfortunately that means the Gryiffindor common room will be covered with pieces of fabric, and a load of sewing thread (at least until the House Elves tidy up!) ;)

Aria made several new years resolutions upon the insistence of her mother. Having never before written any sort of resolutions, Aria found the entire process a bit difficult and slightly fun near the end simply because of her resolution concerning Dax. Giggling softly to herself she pulled out the special bird-approved dye she'd procured from the magical creatures shop and placed it on the sink in the bathroom. After finagling Dax into the bathroom with promises of treats and cajoling him into cooperation, the real fun began.

Aria carefully put the dye upon Dax and scrubbed it into lather until the bubbles sparkled and began to be very dense. At this point the directions told her which incantation to use to set the dye so it would last two weeks in full vibrant color. After rinsing off her hands Aria took out her want and used the charm to set the dye. The soap suddenly vanished and a slightly damp and vibrantly colorful Dax sat before her.

"New Years resolution number 32 complete!" Exclaimed Aria while her mini snowy owl griffin sat glaring at her. He looked very cute in his soft grey and pink feathery coat of fur. Aria hardly noticed his glare as she checked off a box that read, Use dye to color Dax!

Rowan resolves to clean up her act, which means starting with her room. Spellbooks are easy. They're all packed since she takes them from class to class, but her games! Where should she start?

Oh, look, there's Accio, Princess! And over there's is the very latest expansion of SpellCraft: The Dementored Wastes! Maybe she should just sign in...

It's going to be a looong night.....

Outfit Not Found It may seem like Hollynd's New Year's resolution is to get in shape for the summer, but what she really wants to do is to master blending into Muggle society. Here, she is pictured doing "yoga" which she learned about from Professor Brookvale. Hollynd is also experimenting with three trendy Muggle hairstyles, "ombré," "side braids," and "space buns." Working on her bikini goals is just an added bonus while she observes the "yogis."

Her next endeavor will be to investigate Muggle dating behaviors at restaurants. How do Muggles act during a first date? Are there specific dating rituals and dress codes? What does "brunch" entail, or the "farm to table" craze?

I greatly enjoy reading, and very occasionally will dabble in writing, but one of my New Years Resolutions was to try and spend time writing each night in the common room, whether it be simply about my day or things I observed, to writing short stories. My end of the year goal is to write a short story, perhaps about my own life this year at Hogwarts, that will end up being at least 15-20 pages long!

The notoriously unathletic Callista Zabini has no ambitions to make the Quidditch team, but she did make a couple of other New Year's Resolutions:

1. Learn to fly enough better to not be an embarrassment to my family and my House
2. Get more exercise
3. Get rid of the five pounds I gained over the holidays!

She figures she'll kill three birds with one stone.

Hopefully not literally, like, by crashing into them up in the sky...
