ngl this year i did a lot of sketches and studies instead of actually finishing pieces haha ;; also headshots. so many headshots

but!! i'm happy overall!! 2017 is the second year in a row i've drawn consistently throughout the year and i'm proud of myself~

Hmmm. Your art's a bit stagnant, they all look to be at the same skill level to me, and all share the same problems.

edit : That said, I'm not you, so I don't know what your artistic goals are, and what you've been focusing on or trying to accomplish with your art. Most people who looked at my art would say I'm getting worse, because now I like to focus on really quick drawings. (I really hope I didn't hurt your feelings)

Congrats dude!! I draw maybe two things a year anymore (and always swear this year will be different pfft) and it must be damn gratifying to have at least finished a piece every month. :D Keep it up! Two years of consistent art practice is something to be proud of.

Personal opinions aside, I don’t think she was looking for any critique and just wanted to see other people’s art which is a great way to involve the community. I’m also not sure if you were trying to be offensive, but your “criticism” is pretty off-putting and somewhat mean. Most critiques point out the good parts, what areas to improve on, and even have some support, but your comment just seems to look down on the time and effort she invested. I’m sorry your friends say that your art is looking worse, but maybe next time you should ask if someone wants your critique and try not to be too heavy handed about it. Nobody wants to be beat down and kicked, and words can hurt just as much as that.

Clearly you kicked ass this year! Great job motivating yourself to keep at it. You are truly an inspiration. Just from these few examples, it looks to me like your shading and line work is really improving. And you are playing with backgrounds that give your work depth.

I did one of these for 2017 and was so sad to find I struggled with so many months @. But congrats on yours ^^! I love seeing these and here's to a great even artsier 2018.

hey. i think drawing consistently is one of the best things you can do, so youre on the right track; the more you do it, the more you learn without even realizing. its also cool that youre comfortable with and able to focus on studies and sketches without letting the pressure of feeling like you Need to produce polished works get to you. i notice a lot of people get upset that they dont "finish" enough art, but focusing too much on a finished result and not the process can stunt growth and ruin the experience, so don't ever feel like focusing on sketches is a bad thing. i want to say that i think your biggest area of improvement over the year is your shading (esp. that fur), which is great bc its such a difficult thing to pull off. it will definitely give you a lot of freedom and less reliance on lines in the future.

as for the 2017 summary, i don't think i can post mine for gore reasons? unless spoilers allow that? idk. ill play it safe lmao. anyway, i'm glad you had a good year.

I feel your pain about sketches and studies,lol, I feel like I did so much this year and yet I've struggled finding finished art to put in my summary because of the same reason. I have experimented so much this year, I can't really tell if I have improved or not, lol, but at least I had fun!

I honestly thought it was gonna look better than this and much more organic, lol, but here's mine :p

Sad to see that some people have to put others down to feel better about themselves, don't listen to them cause you made a wonderful job and you should be proud of you art !

oh man i meant to do this earlier but was reluctant to bc i was sure i had the worst year ever. it's probably good i did it since it was a little better than i thought. that being said there's not much variety and i didn't draw much outside of commissions which is something that i hopefully improve on this year! everyone here did really well last year, im a bit envious ;-;

ahh do you mean those that show art over the span of like 5 years or so?? i saw a couple but never did one, they look super cool tho! i'd love to do one too but i haven't been drawing long enough lmao maybe in the future
