i am about 110% done with getting snowballed every other page and i've seen several other people that have actually had to put things like "no snowballs please" in their status, so why not make it blockable just like non-friend gifting? i get it's festive and harmless but it's pretty much the single biggest annoyance onsite tbh aside from me

Doesn't work 100% on the time and was never intended to, but I've gotten hit maybe six times this entire season with it on.

Also, a friend provided me with some custom css to block the message for when I do get hit, which I'd be happy to pass onto you if you'd like it. ^^

The shield helps a lot, but I'm not against blocking entirely, if people want that.

However, it should go both ways. If you're going to block snowballs, you should have to opt out of the feature entirely and not be allowed to throw them yourself.

There should also be a cooldown on changing the setting, so you can't keep throwing snowballs at other users, then block them from being thrown back. Something like at least 24 hours between turning it on or off.

also thank you to the offer, but it isn't that message that bothers me, it's the fact that every other time i go to a different page (often) i have a snowball on top of my HA.

i completely second you on all of this, including the cooldown. seems fair to me. if people want to block the feature, it makes sense to block each aspect of it, not just the recieving end.

You have to wear the shield, but you can layer it behind a background or something and it will still work, if you don't want it to show on your HA.

I've got it on under my stuff and haven't been hit much at all (maybe like once every few days that I've noticed).

Several problems with putting "no snowballs" on your status/profile. One is people simply might not notice it. Then there's the random user tosser, which people will use to get through their achievements. Finally some people are just contrary enough to deliberately toss snowballs at people who don't want them.

I haven't seen many snowballs even though I'm not using my shield. I just haven't been bothered by it enough to put it on.

If getting snowballed is enraging enough, and considering the amount of suggestions that come up around it, I'd guess that it is. There should be some way to turn it off for people - at least the display part.
