On December 18th, 2017, we lost a very creative, talented, kind and sweet soul. I know K-pop is still foreign for a good amount of people, but there's also a very large number of us who mourn the loss of Jonghyun, former singer of the Korean boy band SHINee. I would really love if subeta released a tribute item to honor this young man's life, who touched so many people's hearts.
If you support this, and/or have any ideas of what the item should be, please post it here!
More info (may be triggering for some people)
Jonghyun took his life on the 18th. It seems like he was battling with depression and didn't get the support he needed. Mental health issues is still a big taboo on South Korea, and getting help is a very difficult thing to do over there.
A close friend released his suicide note on the internet, and it broke my heart to see that there are still so many people in the world who lack the support they need to get through the darkest moments of their lives.
So this tribute item should also be a shout-out for every one who is facing difficulties, to let them know that people care. They are not alone. And will be missed.
Item Ideas
Item Description: "Tell me I did Well", "You did more than well, my friend", "These diamonds last forever", "The most beautiful thing in all the world is right now.", "Even though we can't communicate using the same language, we use music instead.", "Taking care of a black dog can be difficult. You did more than well."
Item: Diamond Necklace/Something with a diamond, Something based off "She Is", Something moon/stars/space themed, a rose/flower item, mouth-covering turtleneck or the hash tattoos from the song Lonely, Black Dog tattoo (Based on this image) Maybe change the dog to this one (his dog.)

I genuinely and definitely support this idea. I wonder if it's a good idea for the description to be the last three sentence of his last letter, or "please tell me I did well" - Kim Jong-hyun.
: Sorry about pinging again and so soon, but if anyone here can also support this too, I/we would be grateful. Read the post above mine, I forgot to add that previously. ?
If one could be done, it would be great. It would make us very happy.
PLEASE I SUPPORT THIS SO MUCH. Losing him has hurt me in such a deep way. :(
I'm thinking the tribute could be some type of diamond item in SHINee's aqual pearl color? Maybe a necklace?

The description could be "These diamonds last forever" from their song Diamond Sky?
Also...I completely forgot my siggy was Get the Treasure. Their very last comeback... T___T

My friends, could you please show your support, if you agree if this? I'd forever appreciate it~<3
added it to the item ideas! <3
thank you very much! <3

Oh my God I had no idea. I hope his ex-bandmates will be okay oh my God. This is terrible. I loved SHINee so much w o w.
After my initial shock I want to say full support behind this item.
thanks for making the thread, any of the ideas put down so far would be wonderful. <3
pinging
This is so heartbreaking... I wasn't even aware until I got the ping. This idea has my full support. Thank you for making this thread.
May Jonghyun rest in peace and know that he was well-loved.

i support this completely. i hope his death allows people to reach out for the help they need. this whole situation still doesn't feel real and i know personally i'm shocked and detached from my emotions at the moment. when friends and family can't be there for you, there's always music there for you, and shinee was certainly a group that many people turned to when they were upset.
as for items, something based off of she is would be nice-- or something about the moon, since he legally owned part of the moon and has expressed a love for space, the moon in particular. as for description, i think "The most beautiful thing in all the world is right now." or "Even though we can't communicate using the same language, we use music instead." would be a nice reminder of the kind of person that jonghyun was.
thank you so much for making this and shedding light on his existence, i support this 500%. i've never followed shinee closely but i've known them, him since the beginning of my kpop endeavours. it's still so surreal and unbelievable that someone i've known for so long is no longer with us. i can barely imagine what his family, members and friends are going through and tbh i literally want to rip my heart out every time i try. it pains me to no end that the world continues to take away from us even the brightest of stars.
may he be free to shine in a better place now. ❤️
thanks gurl :')
Definitely behind the idea of a tribute item. I know a lot of people on twitter were using the hashtag 'RosesForJonghyun' and changing their icons to a hand holding a rose made by fans (there are a few different ones you can find in the tag) inspired by this photo.
Jonghyun
I like the diamond necklace and there are already a lot of rose items, but I thought I'd throw this idea out there anyway.
Sending much love and good thoughts to everyone. ♥
EDIT: I love your item description idea,
first TOP and now Jonghyun... its terrible that despite all these warning signs, nothing actually happens until something worse does. and the worst part is knowing that it might not change anything until more lives are claimed... mental illnesses can strike regardless of situation, but what CAN change is how this it is addressed and worked on. i for one hope that Jonghyun's passing will be able to pave a way for a better future, for more work and light shed on what mental illnesses can do and how it can be improved.
my suggestion for a tribute item is either the mouth-covering turtleneck or the hash tattoos from the song Lonely, as shown below:
a rather (for lack of a better word) depressing example, but a solemn reminder of not just his life, but what his death meant as well.
item descriptions can be of the lyrics, or part of the letter: "I wanted someone to notice, but no one noticed. No one met me, so of course they don't know I exist."
alternatively, a puff of "winter breath" could be one, from the song Breath, also a piece of the letter reads "If I can't clear my breath, it's better to stop."
but as people would want to see him for the life he lived, maybe my suggestions are not necessarily the best (and i can make them CWs if there are people who would like one). ultimately, i'd be happiest with any tribute, no matter how small, for a man who worked hard with a smile, even when he was dying inside. both his life and death has and will continue to mean something.
edit: i quite like 's idea now thinking about it, his nickname wasnt "bling bling" for nothing - hes a diamond, a star.
thanks for the ping and for the support!

I'm in support of this! I had no idea it happened because I'm out of the loop at the moment but this is such a great loss.
Really really fond of the ideas both and posted. I think either the necklace, tattoos or turtleneck would be great items you'd know right away are representing Jonghyun and not something else.
Also thank you for the ping
Ugh, I forgot to ping one more person. @/CrystalBlossom
[edit] Double ugh. : Oh. Please remove the "please" from "tell me I did well".
[edit] Also add, talented, kind and sweet to the creative too?
We should also get the attention of staff too, but I'm not sure who to ping. Maybe I should wait for the ticket reply I made.
It's my understanding that staff tends not to take requests/suggestions for tribute items, since they're usually labors of love by staff that have a connection to the person that has passed. That being said, I would be fully in support of them making one for Jonghyun.
My own feelings/suggestions under cut
I'm still in shock. I've been a long long time SHINee fan, and Jonghyun has always been the one I've held the most of a soft spot for, especially as he delved into solo works and endeavors like Blue Night. I just saw them on their American tour in March, and it was such a magical experience, singing along happily with all of the rest of the Shawols. His voice was truly amazing, and he was an amazing person. I connected with his sensitivity, how he was emotional, and the fact that he was suffering from depression. It was no secret to anyone that he was very open about the topic. Despite all that, he always went out of his way to help others, to advocate for those who may not have been able to speak for themselves due to the conservative thinking in Korea.
If I could, I would love to suggest that the tribute item be related to his black dog tattoo based on this image. The phrase "I have a black dog" is one that symbolizes that that person is depressed. The topic was very important to Jonghyun, enough that he would tattoo it on his body. I love the other suggestions as well, but I feel like this one encapsulates a lot of what he stood for in life, and the system that ignores mental health that failed him in his death. Hell, you can even make the item image a black dog based on his own beloved dog Roo, who he cherished. The text could say something like "Taking care of a black dog can be difficult. You did more than well." It might seem morbid to make a tribute item around what many consider a gloomy topic, but I know a lot of people were able to connect to him and held great respect for him because of his outspokenness on the topic of living with depression.
Regardless of whether or not the item gets made, there are many out there that he brought joy and that will miss him greatly. You did well, Jonghyun, may you rest well now.
is right about staff not taking suggestions for tribute items. It's covered in this thread, under the "Frequently Asked and Denied" bar.
It's lovely to see tribute items made, but it's something that should be left up to the artists to do, if any of them feel like making such an item.
i havent had the time to read properly on this thread but im still really sad on Jonghyun's passing : (
I just wanted to chip in that Im all in for a tribute to him in CW form.. that I can prolly do during January (cause i"ll be going on some travels soon).
will be looking up for references if any one that has shared em is comfy with me doing them
As much as I'm being affected by this as well, an art staff may not feel the same at all and they are the one taking such decisions. We unfortunately cannot request tributes.
If something were to be done, I'd support it a lot. I will also respect the decision of not making anything as well.
