I had an account here years and years ago, so long ago that I don't even remember the name of it. But I'm Vertigo, and I'm glad to be back; the art is as beautiful as I remember, even if I've forgotten everything else.
I'm a 26-year-old freelance writer, although I'm currently studying programming to expand my skill set. I enjoy role play, video games, language learning (right now I'm hooked on Mandarin Chinese), and binge-watching Netflix shows. I have three dogs and one cat and a motley collection of plants that I refer to as my children.
I look forward to meeting you (yes, you!) and hope to make some close friends to chat with while I explore the site and fumble around.
Thanks for reading! :)
Hi there! Welcome back! I've just rejoined the site after a long time away myself :) I joined again about a month ago. I'm enjoying it so far, there are a lot of improvements (especially in convenience).
I've found this thread (What to do on Subeta) a useful place to start since a lot has changed since I last played, and it has a lot of links/information to help you get around.
What programming languages are you studying? I'm a part-time freelance developer so it's something I'm very interested in!
Thank you very much! It really has come a long way. I've enjoyed poking around so far; I'm glad I caught the winter event in time. :)
That link is super useful! Thanks a ton! I'd love to get back into restocking and everything, too, if I can wrap my mind around the massive amount of items available.
I'm currently studying Python (and by extension Django, and PyGame) for web and game development. So far I've taken well to it, but I have yet to make anything outstanding. What sort of work do you do?
Hi and welcome! Great name, by the way. :)
Heya, welcome!
Also, I hate your name. Damn vertigo happens to me all the time @ Round and round we go! Screw migraines as well.
You came back just in time for Lumi. One of the better holidays, for sure. Have a welcome gift!
Omg another writer and coder, and you're learning mandarin on top of that! I speak it natively but tbh you might be better at reading/writing it than me by now, because I've kinda let my literacy rust away in that language haha.
Python is really fun, I wish you the best with it! It's a really nice programming language. Is there something you want to make with it eventually?
In case you haven't figured it out yet, we're in the middle of Luminaire (subeta's version of christmas) - You should visit Melody's Cottage to get free new items every day. They have all been amazing items so far. This one is my favorite so far:
It's literally me :D

Yeah, the winter event is a lot fun, it's good you caught it :) I love how many ways there are to give people sneaky gifts.
My main job is a computer security researcher, but I do development part time. I use a lot of Python actually! Most of my paying jobs are creating web apps or browser extensions, but in my spare time I contribute to open source projects, mainly using C#, Ruby and Python.
So are you interested in game development then? I always have so many ideas for games that I want to create, but I waste so much time playing them I haven't actually seen any of my ideas through! 😅 Maybe next year...
What kind of writing do you do?
Sorry for my delayed reply, and thank you all so much for your kindness! Certainly I didn't expect the mass influx of gifts, lol! <3
I agree, vertigo and migraines are hellish (am I allowed to say that? I've seen some curse words but my experience with PG sites has clearly ruined me). I'm currently on gabapentin for my migraines and OCD and it's helped a ton. Thank you for taking the time to welcome me!
I can recognize only the most basic characters so far, but my listening is pretty good! Recently I've been binging historical palace dramas; can't get enough of those. My focus in Python is web and game development, but I haven't been at it very long. I'm easily distracted, as you might imagine based on my posting here instead of doing things that are productive hehehe :3
Awesome! I actually picked up a course on Ruby on Rails, too, but compared to Python it seems like a job and a half.
Mostly I'm looking to develop my own visual novel with RPG elements, but by and large my goal is to have fun and make something neat while I learn. As for writing, I'm mostly relegated to boring business and technical writing projects, as people are not so kind as to pay me for outlandish fantasy writing on a day to day basis. Someday!
Welcome back!! I'm in the same boat as you, I took about a four or five year break! What brought you back to the site? I'm curious!
Thank you both!
Yeah, it's been about that long since I was here last, I believe. I couldn't even remember my old username. Sometimes I get a hankerin' for a good old fashioned pet site, you know? And I remembered how lovely the art here was, and decided to check. Imagine my surprise when I found that it was still close-knit and actively maintained. Over the years so many good sites have gone by the wayside.
I think I've made more friends in the past few days than I made in the months I was here in years past, which is encouraging! It's been a very warm welcome and I've really enjoyed exploring. I even bought some CSC to celebrate. :)
I totally understand! It's a fun nostalgic thing for me too. I'm so happy that Subeta is up and running still! It's sad how sites tend to fade away after a while.
I've had the same experience, everyone seems so eager and willing to help and friendly! I'm really content in this community!
Is there something specific you want to buy or are you saving for something?
It is! Even the biggest ones that I remember are sluggish nowadays, so I was really glad to find this one still so active. A labor of love, I assume!
Currently my goal is to stock up on sP so that I can have some on hand when I do find something I really, really want. I've been scrolling through the myriad of wardrobe options to see what I might want to add to a wishlist. What about you? And thank you very much for the gift! I popped one under your tree. :3
It seems like the staff really cares! It's so nice!
I'm sort of doing the same thing. It's really overwhelming to come back after so long because there are soooo many items now. I can't even tell what I want, there are so many choices! I'm saving up my shop till for some achievements, so I'm not making a ton right now, but I'll have a lot once it's done!
It's no problem, I love Luminaire because it's so easy to spread the love! And thank you! I'm excited to see what it is!
Welcome back . pinned some stickers on you to get your collections and achievements built back up :)
❤️Friend me on steam if you ever want to play online games. My friend code is: 66472107
Welcome back! How are you finding things so far? :)
