You know the little "It's so-and-so's birthday!" notifications that Facebook and Skype have? Well, I am really shit at keeping track of dates, my notepad widget is already cluttered to hell and back, so I think Subeta could use a little feature like this.

You'd get a little event telling you that your friend's birthday is tomorrow (or today, either works), but only if they have the cake option enabled in preferences. That way, people who want to opt out can still do so easily.

Thoughts?

[edit] Adding an on/off toggle under preferences for people who do not want the reminders would also be very handy. Not everyone wants to be buried in events if you have a huge friends list. Thank you and for pointing it out! :D

I like this idea. And the event would still be there if you didn't actually login on the exact date so you could send a belated greeting/gift.

Yeah, I'd love this! I think it might make sense to have the event itself have an on/off toggle for people who don't necessarily want the event, but I know I'd definitely use it.

This is funny because my two "VIP" friends have birthdays one and two days before mine, so I never forget. XD I too am pretty crap at keeping track of dates, so I'd support this... but only if users could choose whether or not to enable the alert.

I would love this. I tried using an off-site service for that, but the first one went under, and the second one just spams with ALL HOLIDAYS that I don't care about. But this would make it a lot easier.

I would love something like this. I tried to keep track via the Gift Lists one year but I failed.. and then failed again the next year :(
