Roleplay Rules In general

  1. If you are roleplaying a character, you must have said character registered on the Student Roster.
  2. In the world of Harry Potter, special abilities are considerably rare. In this forum group, we reflect this by keeping special abilities limited. In order for your character to have a special ability, members must register their character for a special ability. Applications will only be accepted during term breaks. Refer to the Special Ability Registration as to what restrictions apply to the special ability you are interested in (i.e. vampires and part-vampires cannot have mind powers).
  3. Each member may only have one character registered with a special ability. If you wish to register another character for a special ability, the primary character’s special ability will have to be retired. Please take this into account when registering another character.
  4. Roleplaying physical fights is not allowed. Students must not cast defensive hexes, jinxes, and spells on other students unless they are participating in a duel. We don’t expect everyone to get along with each other, but there is more than one way to show your character’s disagreement that does not include harming another student. You can roleplay your characters arguing.
  5. Students can cast spells and charms on other students (i.e. playfully casting a prank-worthy hex, changing another character's hair color, repairing a character's glasses, etc) as long as the user who roleplays the character being casted on is okay with it.
  6. Respect the workshop topic and rules set by the workshop captain(s). If you have no interest in participating in the workshop, then do not roleplay in the workshop thread.
  7. In concerns to workshops, only the workshop captain can set the setting and time for roleplaying in a workshop (Note: Captains can pause their workshop and shift settings at any time.). If members want to continue roleplaying after a pause in the workshop, be courteous and change to one of the open roleplay threads (your respective common room thread or the Great Hall RP thread, etc.).
  8. Members cannot roleplay dangerous situations such as confronting dangerous and/or poisonous plants, dangerous/or uncontrollable animals and practicing dangerous and/or fatal spells.
  9. Please reach out to other members before you describe any interactions/relations between your characters that have not occurred in actual roleplays or discussed. For example, if your characters have never interacted in a roleplay before but you want your characters to already be frienemies (and the other user doesn't know you plan to have their character be your character's frienemy), then you should ask the user ahead of roleplaying an argument to make sure that is okay.
  10. Please label all out of character comments by using brackets or including OOC in front of your comment.
  11. Roleplaying is only fun when everyone can roleplay together. Actively excluding anyone is not the same as a character being distant, shy, to themselves, etc.

Both Subeta’s Community Guidelines and the Wizarding Rules also apply to any roleplay within the Wizarding Forum Group and the individual house forum groups.
