He had a nervous twitch as he clapped his hands awkwardly to get himself back on topic. "So..." he said reading from the card, "how is everyone settling in after your first week? Hope you are all enjoying your classes and all. So I'm sure you've had some downtime in your common rooms already. Nice and safely far away from the library..."

This week's theme is Common Room Downtime.

Your challenge this week is to create a Human Avatar depicting an activity your student does in their time off in the common room.

Some rules for this challenge: 1.) NO SCHOOL UNIFORMS. Your HA represents downtime within your house's common room. 2.) Please include the activity they are performing. 3.) Must be indoors in the common room. 4.) Bonus points may be awarded to particularly creative entries.

Each member may only submit one avatar, and each avatar to successfully adhere to the challenge rules and theme shall be awarded 10 House Points!

This challenge will end on Friday, December 1st at 11:59 PM!

Thus, in late November Aria can be found decorating for Christmas. This year she has decided to make the common room a dreamy delight of holiday cheer! Yes, she could use magic to aid her decorating, but she'd rather do it slowly and with lots of cookie eating and song singing. She doesn't even mind when her little pet helpers get in the way.

Outfit Not Found In her spare time, Keet likes to cuddle up in a comfy sweater in the common room with her sketchbook. She practices doing moving sketches of her owl, Ophelia, and her fwooper, Disco. Sometimes, she will even sketch her friends' pets for some more variety. Since the magic that makes her drawings move can be a little tricky, she feels that the more practice she gets, the better! ;)

Elizabeth has created a small magical fire in a quiet corner in the common room and allowed it to burn unchecked for a while. When she came back to it, a serpent had emerged from it. Beaming over the sight of an Ashwinder, Elizabeth kneeled down to the creature and looked into its face. It was unknown whether Ashwinders were susceptible to Parseltongue magic, so she was more than curious to interact with it. "Hello~ ", she started talking calmly and waited for a reaction. The Ashwinder lifted its head, watching the person and made a movement, looking like it nodded. Elizabeth was delighted over the reaction, but at the same time she wondered why no Parselmouth ever tried to talk with an Ashwinder. It wasn't difficult to 'create' one. She started asking some more questions about this creature before one hour had passed and the ashwinder collapsed to dust. It had laid some eggs and Elizabeth carefully picked them up after using a Freezing Charm. Maybe she could gift these eggs to the hospital wing or the potion classroom.

Niamh Doyle isn't overly popular in the Gryffindor common room, as all those books take up a load of space, and she always nabs the comfiest chair! But she enjoys reading (and never creases the pages, or breaks the spine of the book :P), and thinks that this number of books should just about last her for the weekend ;)

Marcia's "downtime" often consists of her being hard at work, claiming one of the desks in the common room as her own. She can be found staying up late into the night with nary a light other than the one from the candle set up on the desk. Often times, she's scribbling away in her sketchbook, coming up with ideas for her future business. Otherwise, she's perched at the desk studying magical cookbooks and potions, taking notes where she can. She often visits the library to check out new books before returning to the common room, so much to Mr. Cassidy's disdain, he'll be seeing a lot of Marcia this term!

When he isn’t getting into trouble or playing with his pets. Fade spends a great deal of time practicing his metamorphmagus abilities. He’s even become brave enough to practice in the common room. At first hair was the easiest thing to change, then eye colors. Now he’s focusing on morphing his hands and feet, even growing horns, and changing his facial features. Thanks to the support of his friends, he’s getting braver and better every day.

In her free time, Lys loves to practise hair dyeing charms in the common room. She really hates her black hair and is obsessed with potions and charms which are able to change her hair color, preferrably into lighter colors fitting her outfits. Sealy, her magic toy, is the innocent vicitim of all her new experiments, acting as a model. It takes it calmy and with a smile, taking pride in making its mistress happy.

Private Outfit Hollynd appears to be reading a special edition of The Quibbler, but she's really people watching under the cover of her Spectrespecs. So far she's observed and made note of the most studious members of her house. They'll be the most able to help her with assignments for classes she's skipped. Hollynd is also trying to catch the Giant Squid's attention because she's curious about communicating with magical underwater creatures.

She is staying in the common room right now so she can be around if someone needs her or wants to talk.
