Animorphs is a little known series from the 90's about six kids (one who is an alien) saving the world. It is full of sadness, horror, and some comedy to relieve the tension.
Anyways...my favorite is hands down Tobias. I related to him as a loner that didn't quite fit in. Plus he was trapped in the form of a hawk and I love birds. While I didn't have to worst parents around, I was basically the black sheep of the family so Tobias not understanding family (due to abusive aunt and uncle) was something I could relate to.
I ran a poll on my blog about who everyone's favorite Animorph is and HERE are the results :)
Animorphs!!! :D
I loved Rachael because she was so flawed and so fierce. I wanted to be her as a kid.
Nowadays on the re-reads I've moved Marco into my second-favorite spot. But they're all amazing characters.
Yeah, I'm a little FanimorphXD
Rachel is a good pick. I have a theory that she chooses such powerful battle morphs (elephant and grizzly bear) to compensate for her own insecurities.
Yes that is definitely the Rachael move. XD When I was a kid I understood the anger she had but as an adult I understand that it's hand in hand with the insecurities.
And I really appreciate Marco's transition from jokey guy to Mr Ruthless Deep Thoughts. I loved his mom's book.
Tobias has the Most Tragic That Ever Tragic'd story, though. I like Tobias. I like Cassie. I like all of them.
It does not surprise me that Jake got the least votes on your poll XD. He has some growth throughout the series but he's still just not as complicated or interesting as anyone else.
Man, that's a series I haven't thought about in a little while! (maybe I should break out my books...)
Anyway, Tobias was my favourite too! He was the Weird Kid from the broken home, and I related hardcore to that. Plus hawks were my favourite birds of prey.
My second favourite switched from Rachel to Cassie on any given day. I loved Cassie for her compassion and stuff, but I also really admired how fierce Rachel was, even when she was upset or insecure.

I appreciate Cassie more now on rereads than I did as a kid. The "conscience of the group" characterization really got on my nerves and I felt like it slowed down the plot too much. Nowadays I can see that she's mostly right to be concerned. And either way she pretty much has to do things against her entire belief system on a daily basis just to survive (let alone save the world), and that's powerful stuff.
Yeah, Rachel is complicated as everyone is.
Yeah, all the Animorphs are my little babiesXD
You should break out your books and read away =D
Cassie is the character I like but could never be like. When she gets worried about the skunk babies it is annoying on one hand but on the other it shows how it is hard for her to both be a child soldier AND still be a pacifist. It shows she is struggling with the war on a very personal level. Even though she is a pacifist she has still committed the greatest kill in the series: erasing someone from time itself.
Animorphs!! Ahhh I can't pick just one favourite animorph because I love them all. I like how complicated they are, how they all fit together as a group. If I had to choose I think it's between Tobias(I relate to him on many levels) and Ax. xD Especially Ax in human form.
Tobias is awesome!
And Ax...he's a sweet baby :)
I really love the book series. Now I'm going to go dig up my books to read xD
