I started dong quests today. And everytime I click on find item it opens a new page. Well this is annoying. It just used to go to the shop search. It actually takes me longer to do quests this way. Please change it back.

i actually find it easier since i usually just cmd-click the search link to open the results in new tabs. i still cmd-click if there's more than one item, but if it's just one, this is faster because now i don't have to cmd-click and then switch to the new-but-inactive tab.

I agree. I have to make sure I close the quest page and then go back to the quest via the quest menu to make sure the quest timer is working properly. (Just clicking on complete on the quest page I started with might mean no time as passed for the site)

you don't need to do that. just click on search then click the back button when you buy the item much easier that way

I've always opened my items in a new tab too. I feel like it's quicker. Open new tab, buy item, close new tab. As opposed to waiting for the shop page to load and then the quest page to load again, and double that if the quest wants more than one item.

I wouldn't care if it was changed back though, cause it's habit for me to ctrl-click either way.

@ ciannwn I'm not sure I understand why you'd think you have to reload the quest page? The timer still counts down if you're in another tab, so it doesn't affect it at all.

ehhh i don't like doing it that way, i prefer to do things in tabs. maybe just a weird neurosis of mine, or a holdover habit from when you had to manually copy-paste item names into the shop search page and there was more incentive to do quests extra fast (especially wizard quests which even had an achievement for completing a quest in under 10 seconds).

Many years ago there was a quest glitch - if the quest page was left open the quest timer didn't work. People could get their items, click on the open quest page's complete quest button and no time had passed. A couple of people who used this for Wizard quests to get a 15 point token every time were frozen for abusing this glitch. (This was when there was a very limited time to get a 15 point token - if you were slow you got a 10 point token and if you were very slow you ended up with a 5 point token)

Going by what you said this glitch is no more but I'm still a bit paranoid. :D

tbh I wish we could do everything in one page without tabs and many clicks..

something like when we hover on shop search a medium hover window will open on the quest page (like with items) with the shop search page for that item and we just buy the items and click finish.. all on the same page without tabs and many clicks..

I kinda don't like either way because it's too much time and clicks.. but the easiest and quicker way for me it's to open in tabs and then right click on the quest tab - close all tabs to the right..

Damn. I was really enjoying the open new tab shop search link :o That's brutal it's changed back....

is there a way to make the open new tab shop search link an option for anyone who wants it? like maybe a toggle option on the user preferences? I would really like to have this back.

I think it makes more sense to let people choose, cuz otherwise people who want it in the same page can't do it at all. Whereas, this way, people who want to open it in a new tab can still do so by middle-clicking with the mouse, or holding ctrl + clicking the links.

So having that option to toggle on the user preferences page is a no go? :P

Just ctrl+click the link and it will open a new tab, or click with your mouse wheel, I always did that... I'm glad it changed back, so no is forced to change their questing method

No, that's.... a bit overkill for this haha. We'd have to like, add it to the database and everything. Is there a reason something like ctrl+click doesn't work for you? (The main thing I can think of is for touchscreen or tablet devices, that might be kind of tricky)

I open Shop Search in a new tab too, but I just use a browser extension (LinkClump) to use the right mouse button to open up the links. With that I can open more than one link at the same time. It's easier than having to press ctrl then clicking or using the middle button, which my mouse doesn't have (it's a wheel, not a button)

Yeah questing on my phone is a no go unfortunately... but also the wheel/button on my mouse stopped working long ago... so i buy a new mouse, eventually, i guess? probably should get a new keyboard too... so one user had voiced an issue with it here that I read, whereas I found this way to be extra efficient so idk... i just don't enjoy questing like this now that I had it so good for a moment lmao!!

Maybe I could just put two shop search buttons... one that opens in a new tab and one that doesn't... lol

You can also right click and click on open in new tab to do the same thing.
