You used to be able to set up a HA, take your weapons out of your wardrobe and put them back in the armory without buying 2x of the same item. It seems like this has since changed so that I can no longer wear some of the more expensive items I have and then transfer them out of the wardrobe.

I made a suggestion for this awhile ago. I support it, but not everyone else did.
Staff did the avatar edit thing like that before. Ages ago, when you had a gold account, you got the extra layer/s. And, if your account expired but you did not change your avatar, it kept the items on. Someone mentioned it, and it got taken away, since it was a perk of having gold activated. It sucked, but, eh.
Anyway, as much as I like the idea for weapons, (I know I don't like having to re-mod my stuff every single time I want to wear it for a bit OR when I go to change the form of whatever)...
I'm not for this.
If we want to show off our rare/expensive crap, we show it off. If we want to actually use it, we use it. Not both at the same time with only one copy of the item. We have to choose which is better for us; looking strong/cool or being strong/cool? haha.
&, hell, we can always just save a copy of the avatar and put it on the forum image or whatever and I know that I have too many stupid lower battleshop tokens (and money) anyway.
This sounds like privileging battlers over fashionistas, and I don't think we should do that. Some foods are wearable and you can't eat your cake and wear it too. Right now the extra aggro to battlers who might also like to wear is that the source of new modification crystals has vanished. We've been promised we'd get a chance to get them in some other way, but we all know how long it can take for battle changes to get implemented. Sometimes it takes years.
I had no idea you could have done this wear and fight with at the same time, since pets use weapons and people wear clothes it seemed like an of course you can't do that thing. I do remember the layers/GA quirk, and shops today work that way. I have always bought/looted two copies of whatever but mostly because it was less of a hassle to come up with the sP/get multiple wins that it was to take things in and out and re-modify them. I know that a lot of the CS Challenger sigils/maps/notes I have gotten two of also because my pets wanted to fight and I wanted to wear.
The reason weapons are wearable is because not everyone likes pet battling. Making a weapon wearable 'adds value' to that packet of pixels. To my mind, battlers don't suddenly deserve extra value on their items. Fashionistas have to pay the price so we should too.
Half-assed coffee-deprived idea incoming: why not have replicas that are wearable-only? Make it so they're given out from here on out to people that win the top tier battle prizes - you get the weapon + the wearable replica to keep or to sell. That would keep the wearable option rare, but wouldn't pump extra weapons into the system.
That way, you could have your weapon and wear it too without messing with the wardrobe coding. It would possibly make the replicas slightly more in-demand than the weapons, though.
I feel like I remember discussing the idea of high-end weapon knock-offs before, but I don't think anything ever came of it.
Given the recent trend of knock-off wigs, there's precedent for it, and I'd be okay with it. But that's another topic I think.
On the current suggestion, I have to say I'm against it. Just like you can't eat food or read books and wear them, or unlock challengers and wear those items. At least with weapons, you can battle with it and then remove it to wear. It's not like the other types of items that just disappear.
I don't think it's worth re-working the wardrobe's coding to allow this.
Does it though? It would mean no one needs to buy duplicate weapons to both wear and use them, which could theoretically lower prices and make them more accessible for everyone, fashionistas included.

You cant eat and wear food because its gone.
I can use and wear my high end stuff right now, its just a pain to do so.
Also battlers high end stuff costs multiples of whatever custom wearable/boutique stuff costs, and is often not possible to buy 2 copies even if you could theoretically afford it.
Also historically it was possible to do both, its only recently that we cant easily do both

I would love this. But I like it to work both ways.
Normally I have all the wearable stuff in the wardrobe. If I need a specific weapon, I have to get it from my wardrobe. It would be great if the wardobe could use the weapons from the armory and the armory could use the weapons from the wardrobe.
Going off of 's post, how about, you own the weapon and you get a replica for wardrobe but only as long as you own the weapon. Sell the weapon = lose the replica. The replica will be bound to your account, can't sell/trade.
Not sure how feasible that would be to do.

I would support the accountbound wearable replica of really expensive weapons. Some things are not feasible to own two copies of, plus moving weapons destroys the mods.

I think the idea of account-bound replicas that exist as long as you have the item in your armory would be the best way to go about this and I'd love to see it.
This sounds like privileging battlers over fashionistas, and I don&;t think we should do that.
& how is this not privileging certain users when it's asking to have one item exist in two places at once? Is the same courtesy going to be extended to other rare and hard to get items that aren't used (the non food, books, played with toys, etc.)?
For example, I used to collect coins and like to collect coin items on here. I have a that I have in my wardrobe, but I'd also love a copy in my pet's treasure as well. And, sure, I can trade it back and forth, but I'd rather be able to use it in both places. Can't I just get a non working copy that's tied to my account unless I sell the original? (and, if it being a custom item isn't your thing, how about if it were ? pretend I really love candy that looks like hair or whatever.)
I have a and I'd love to have it as both a minion on a pet and in my minion zoo. Why can't I get a copy that is only for the zoo, since I already own the little guy? Again, I could just trade it back and forth, but I'd rather not. Should there be an extra copy of rare and/or hard-to-buy minions? Should the zoo just list all minions currently in my account so I don't need to buy two? (though, I'd be lying if I did not claim to love the idea of a multiuse stupid, hard to get thing. :P)
And, which weapons is this going to be extended to? All of them? Surely does not need a 'here's a copy' treatment. Or, only the ones above a certain rarity? Just achievement prizes? Battle drops? Maybe ones that were only given out for plots? Where does it begin and end? Just anything you happen to have in the armory?
I don't really have a strong opinion on this (even though I was ensaddened to learn that if I want to wear my Natasha I'll lose all the mods on it), but this might help to soothe some of the hurt feelings over the changes to weapon drops from old CS challengers and the people who were hoping to win one for their armory and one for their wardrobe.
