I got an explanation! If an item is accidentally added twice or has the same name as another item, it is deleted but that item id number isn't reused. And sometimes if you add the original item, it will try and pull the other (which is non-existent). So that is probably what you were seeing and why it doesn't actually show on your wishlist. It corrected itself :D
