headcanon (plural headcanons) (fandom slang) Elements and interpretations of a fictional universe accepted by an individual fan, but not necessarily found within or supported by the official canon.

The Harry Potter universe is one of the easiest to create headcanon, in my opinion! So many of its characters are so strong and so much of its lore is so rich! I love that there are still gaps in JKR's story that it leaves it open to imagination. There are so many situations that could be raised to make you think I know exactly how that character would react!

I'd love to hear some of your headcanons! Do you have any that you so strongly believe that you sometimes forget that they aren't confirmed? Do you have any that might not be the popular opinion? Maybe you have a theory that JKR's universe somehow ties together with another literary universe! Please share some of your theories or beliefs--I'm dying to add to my own headcanon!

When I was younger, I had heard so much speculation on Remus and Sirius's relationship that I had to remind myself that they weren't really together. It had become a headcanon for a time for me. Even though things had come together the way they did with Sirius's death and Remus's marriage to Tonks, I sometimes still wonder if Sirius hadn't harbored unrequited feelings towards Remus or even towards James.

I also believe that JKR subtly hinted at a potential relationship between Luna and Dean in the last book. I would have loved to see this develop a bit more! I think they would have been a good match. I know there are a lot of people out there that would prefer the pairing of Luna and Neville, but it was never something I really liked. I know the movies showed Neville having feelings for her, but I just can't get behind it and try to block it out of my head. (Is there such thing as anti-headcanon?)

Earlier this evening, I had a thought occur to me that I now cannot get out of my head. Before Harry calls Dobby and Kreacher to Grimmauld Place, the two elves were still working at Hogwarts, correct? After Dumbledore fell, Snape became Headmaster. Well, I could totally picture Dobby marching into Snape's new office and asking after his pay. Dumbledore's portrait, of course having other things on its mind, had not warned him of the elf's compensation. In addition, when Dobby comes to call on Snape, Dumbledore is absent from his painting. Snape, never having had house-elves of his own, thought it was a joke of some kind. "That's proposterous! A house-elf being paid? What are you playing at, elf?" Dobby would angrily reply, "Dobby is a free elf, Master Snivellus!" (Somehow he had been convinced that was Snape's name - any guesses on how?) Hilarity ensues from there.

I have more, but I will have to take some time another night to write them down. In the meantime, please share yours!! I know we have some imaginative minds out there I'm sure we would all love to hear from. :)

I love the Dobby headcanon you mentioned! :D It even sounds so plausible and now I wish it would be in the books. xD

I believe there is something like anti-headcanon. Think it's simply disagreeing with the canon stuff...like, not liking it. For example, I was never really happy with Tina Goldstein...for me, she's the most unpleasant character of the Fantastic Beasts universe, but for the sake of Newt, I kinda feel okay with it. Well, have to. xd I remember that I had to explain my best friend why Neville was with Hannah Abbott after the last book, because she had seen the movie first and was soo confused with the ways of the book... xd I must say that I kinda shipped Neville and Luna, because the movies heavily implied on that...however, I think, Luna is pretty happy with Rolf and the magical creatures! :D

Well...and I have another headcanon, though it's not from me. I've picked it up somewhere in the internet many months ago, but I somehow like it. We know that Nagini doesn't resemble any real snake species and she has poison/venom and is a constrictor as well. Her abilities are definitely not common...and no snake species like hers is mentioned in 'Fantastic Beasts and where to find them'. The headcanon I read assumed that Nagini was human before, maybe even a school mate of Tom Riddle, something like...friends, or a very loyal subject(not in the crazy extent like Bellatrix, though). However, as he wasn't capable of love (though I kinda disagree with that, but that's another story), he didn't want her to leave him...call it strong obsession. And that's why he transfigured her into a snake permanently, enhancing the features he desired (fangs, size, poison/venom, strength) and giving her a new name. I like to think of it that Riddle probably wanted a special snake which was exclusive to him and that's why he made his own creation instead of choosing a Basilisk (as these take ages to grow and are impractical to have around). I know that it sounds difficult to imagine that Riddle could transfigure a human into a animal permanently, but after all, he was stretching the bounds of the possibilities of magic, so I don't see why this couldn't have happened... It's somewhere stated in the books that Riddle had a strong control over Nagini, even for a Parselmouth and they've explained it with the horcrux inside Nagini...however, I like to think that there were some ties with their acquaintance in school.

(okay, now that reads so geeky, sorry. :'D )
