SUGGESTIONS THAT ARE NEW/NEED ADDRESSING: via me:
It would be amazing if the "Retired Items" page was alphabetized within the two categories (I love that items I've retired are separate from those that had sold out, I don't have any issues with these remaining separate). I try to keep an active list so that I and others can easily reference which items cannot actually make a comeback, but it is...rough. Right now, if things disappear from my shop, I have to play hunt and find (which is nearly impossible - I have 198 items that are no longer available) - this is an "at best" situation. At worst, I have to highlight the entire page, copy it, paste it in notepad, remove the + wishlist and duplicate placement of the item name, put it on a sheet in gdocs, convert that to A-Z orientation, and then compare it with my current list to see what, exactly, was recently sold out. It's possible, but I've had to do it a few times already and it is tiring. I would love to just be able to compare an alphabetized view of it with my own records. - Being Worked on according to This Post!
It would also be great if that CW Item Database that was being worked on got some more progress, as it was supposed to be up and running to help out with the void left by the Cash Shop cw slush shop and the closing of Pawn cw buying. I understand that the wardrobe does offer a similar service, but with all the bugs and issues still being ironed out in there, it's not as effective as the directory could/should/would be. - Being worked on according to 's section of THIS POST!
Suggestions that have been implemented: Item Management Page: [li]Firstly, it's showing me 22 pages to click through, when I only actually have 17 pages of releases (omg so many). [li]Tabs to organize (much the way that say, the battle page, now has challenger tabs with different categories):
Custom Wearable Shops: - Get rid of the "All" category - rename it "Main" and allow users to choose what appears there (by only showing items that are left "unsorted"). Honestly, I just temporarily "retired" a bunch of items from my shop because the page load took forever and you had to scroll endlessly to get to the new items at the bottom. It is also extremely difficult to find newly added/re-added items in shops if they're not actually brand new, since they appear wherever they fall based on item ID. FIXED - Now only "Unsorted" items appear on the main page! - Show categorized items only in their correct category, not also in the All/Main page. FIXED - Allow users to completely remove items (as in, not have them appear in the shop at all anymore, not just remove copies from view or delete the price so they can't be bought) from the CW Shop with the caveat that it can never be re-added/re-slotted (as in, when you pull it from the shop, it gets moved to your -hopefully- revamped Item Management page where it goes automatically to the retired forever section and cannot be slotted again or put back in the shop. Once it's gone, it's gone. This was something that used to happen when all "shopped" cws were in the Cash Shop itself - we could add something to it, but if we removed it, it would not be allowed to be re-added, so I'm sure there's coding that can be done to make this work. FIXED - Items can now be permanently Retired from both the Manage Shop page as well as the Custom Clothing: Active Items page! [s]- Remove the usernames and head-shots of Shop Followers - I don't need to know who follows me honestly, I'm sure nobody else does either. It would really drastically reduce the load on that page (which sometimes lags monstrously for me). Its not that I don't care or appreciate that I have shop followers - I really do - but I don't see the need for that huge list. FIXED: it now only shows a few followers with the option to view your full list! - Please show the proper category text for each category, regardless of whether there are items in there or not. Currently, if I do not have any item in a particular category (say, Retired or Seasonal), my category description/text displays whatever was the description/text for the last "valid" category I viewed (by valid I mean one with items in it). So, if I go directly from "All" to "Seasonal" it shows my entire shop description from the main page. If I go from "Props" to "Seasonal", it displays the description that goes with my Props section. I don't understand why? FIXED - CW Shops Feed: remove the head-shot and 3 random items in the shop preview. I think this would load the page faster/better - especially for those of us that follow a lot of shops. I also really love 's suggestion regarding tabs in this section as well - one for shops followed, one to show newest items added to shops (with a link to the CW shop it's in perhaps?): better explained here FIXED: The feed now just shows the newest unlocked items, there is a bar and link to the right that shows a selection of the shops you follow (with links) and you can click a link to have it list every shop you follow! - Please add a "preview" option to the messages we can send to followers on the "Your Followers" page. It will help cut back on errors/having to send second events due to errors (like broken links etc). FIXED - Please allow links to items in CW shops to take users to the correct category. Especially invitation redemption links. Currently, you're directed to the main ("Unsorted") category, which is troublesome if folks have several categories that you'll have to hunt through just to redeem your invite or find the item(s) you were searching for via shop search etc. PARTIALLY FIXED - invites now take you straight to the item itself.
REMADE THREAD The previous thread was Necro'd 3 months ago (didn't realize sadly).
Yeah, theres a lot that needs to be changed in it, I think mainly for organization of items and how they appear (both in the back end and in the front end of shops). I like things grouped together myself, but because the "unsorted" page is the default main page everything is sorted by recency and that doesn't group similar items together. I mean and my shop is small but I had to remove a ton from my shop because the way they were appearing in the front end really bothered me that it had no organization (aside from recency/item ID). I think in addition to your point of changing it to "main" that we should be able to choose which category loads when someone views our shop. Otherwise what is the point of categories if the main shop is gonna be the one in view and load everything that is priced/listed.
I second this. I would also like to have the option to permanently retire an item even if batches are still available. That makes it so much easier for me to handle the back end of my shop which is only 4 pages long and is already starting to clutter. My current method is to write PERMRETIRED under the master password field so that I won't put it back in shop for sales, and that can get annoying to deal with.
Personally I do like knowing who follows my shop, but thats just me. I do think that the headshots don't need to be in there, but I wouldn't mind there being a list of some sort. But this aside from loading, this really isn't a major issue for me so if it was a removed feature I'll be okay with it. However, it could also be that you could just add a separate tab/section for us to send messages/shop event notifications to our followers and keep the followers page for anyone who actually does want to check out who follows them. That would help solve loading issues, though not sure if that just makes it unnecessary pages or not, but still, it's an option.
Seconded. I never understood why the category description didn't show up unless items which are in the category, at this point you might as well have the whole category not show up if the things listed under that category is unpriced and unbatched, rather than it showing up but the description being the default main one.
So much this. I do like seeing items though, but the three random items is unnecessary, maybe recent items, but that could also be solved by the sectioning you mentioned.
I know most of my response is just agreeing with these points, but I think this job needs to be tackled. I got into CWs around 2014 and shortly after I got into them this new CW shop thing came into play and while I love it, I think the code on it hasn't really been touched since it came out in 2015ish? I mean in the invite section of an item it still says:
That was written like that when it first came out years ago...
Pinging in case any of you have other suggestions and/or feedback for this feature of the site. :)
some of the items i've had made, don't even show up on the management pages.
If you did direct to shop, they skip going to that page entirely as far as I know.
no. these were item i had made, before the 'direct to shop' was available .
EDIT: wait. i just thought. maybe they had reached their limit of "being made"? so they no longer show up?
(even though i did not think i ever did that with any of my items)
Ah okay. They may not have shown if you didn't check until after they fixed it so that items with no batches left didn't appear anymore. Initially, everything you ever submitted should have shown, but eventually they were able to fix the one part so stuff that didn't have copies left got removed.
^ The three things I want most I don't really want ALL items to show up by default and would love to be able to control that somehow. And the category description not showing when there are no items in that category has been my biggest annoyance. It shouldn't be but it is xD

Hello everyone! I've begun to work on some improvements to the CW shops interface. I thought I'd post some screenshots both as a sneak peek of the revamp and in case anyone has urgent feedback haha. Some parts are going to be really different from what we're used to, so I'm also asking to approach it with an open mind and please don't be too nit-picky with the feedback at this stage, since it's still a very unpolished rough draft.
The CW Feed/Home Page

The new page gets rid of the random shops thing, replacing it with:
On a half-screen view each section moves to full-width so nothing is squished. See spoiler:

To go along with this, I'm working on a better search feature that lets you search by wearable layer and other parameters :) That's still in the works though so no screenshots for now.
Next up..
Viewing a CW Shop
I'm gonna use Disasters' shop for these screenshots since she has sooo many items and categories. Here is the current shop, for comparison. The screenshot below is what I'm working on:

First, a few key changes/fixes:
Here is what it looks like if an item is locked:

Here's what it looks like if you switch to a different category:

The Buying Process
I wanted to both streamline and make the buying process safer. We've all at least been afraid of accidentally hitting the back button or double-clicking or something, and buying extra CWs we didn't mean to. Many people have fallen victim to this and so I want to make it so it's much harder to purchase accidentally.
First off, when you click the green "Buy" button, you'll get a pop-up confirmation. If you click OK, then it will go ahead and purchase the item for you. However, it does this using a POST request, not a GET request, and via a secure Ajax call rather than taking you to a new page. What this means is that it's impossible to buy an extra item by refreshing the page or hitting the back button.
One big change is that there is no more confirmation page before a purchase. Instead, you get a pop-up. This is a huge change, but there is reasoning behind it: I'm hoping that this will streamline purchases and allow you to more easily navigate shops (since it no longer redirects you to a different category after purchasing, but lets you stay on the same page you were on).
Okay, so that's that for now!
These changes are mostly focused on the customer-end. The management/seller end of things will get its time in the spotlight soon as well, so please don't worry :)
Please ping me with any feedback you have, things you like, things you might suggest differently, and so on.

Omg yo I just had a quick browse through this and this looks TIGHT!! It looks DOPEE!!! It sounds totally awesome to be able to have a nice handy dandy list of people whose shops you follow and actually like have it in one place to look through and also the new custom wearables section is such a godsend for casual browsing cause like I cannot remember how many times I found new items in someone's shop by like LOOKING THAT SHIT UP ON SHOP SEARCH.
Love how the previews appear next to the items in the shop itself that is a great feature which I highly appreciate as you don't have to like constantly be scrolling over the item.
Thank you for this update mate you're a godsend <3
This honestly looks so amazing :D I'm so excited to see this!! And THANK YOU!!!! My shop will crash less computers now XD <3 I'm so happy to see such amazing changes you did such great things :D
Honestly the changes you've made here and to subeta in general are so amazing :) so amazed at all you've done!!!
Wow. This is awesome. I’m guilty of accidentally buying an item from backspacing back. So this will be a godsend.

Looks interesting so far! Can't wait to see it in action. ;)
I don't love the previews being in there just because it means less CWs per row, but it's something that I can probably learn to live with. :)
And omg seriously being able to see the category text when nothing is in there will be a lifesaver. I seriously just fixed my shop today from the sale and essentially removed everything for the time being to give people a bit of a break from my shop but had to put something back in to make sure I fixed the text up nice and pretty.
I love the confirmation popup thing. I accidentally purchased something in the black friday sale, I meant to purchase it but somehow just by clicking the link to get to that specific item it purchased it for me without confirmation and even though it was an item I wanted, it was really scary that it happened so I was very hesitant buying other stuff. I think it just had something to do with that it was being unlocked perhaps the same time that I clicked to purchase it and somewhere in there it just skipped the confirmation process which I figure is not going to happen now that there is a pop-up so definitely a thumbs up on that! :D
You have a good point about the previews. This response is just to let you (and everyone else) know that I've taken it into consideration. I'm gonna explain my reasoning a bit more, because I want you to know I've really given thought to this, I promise I'm not just shooting you down.
The previews being shown, like every major change, has pros and cons. One of the cons is definitely that each item takes up way more space now. It's gotta fit an entire preview after all, not just the image thumbnail. Another con is that, as a result, it'll take a bit more scrolling overall to see all the items on a page.
However my reasoning is that the pros outweigh the cons. The major pros would be:
I also considered the cons (more scrolling, items taking up more space) and I decided they are not too significant because they're mitigated by the other changes:
I hope this reasoning makes sense! And one caveat, well, I said that this is what I'm "anticipating". Based on the reasons above, I think this will be a net benefit, so the previews are a thing I want to proceed with. But of course, if we have them for a while and it's not working out, I'm all for rethinking it and even changing it back based on how testing goes.
Wow that was a wall of text. I am so sorry lol... And also I really hope none of this sounds argumentative or anything, I'm just super verbose no matter what I do T_T
PS. Super, SUPER agree with you on the confirmation pop-ups. Some people argue that they're inconvenient, but when it comes to things you spend real-life dollars on, it's worth the inconvenience to make sure your money's not wasted.

Thank you for the explanation. I definitely see some of the benefits to it that I didn't before, like the comparison shopping reasons and the whole loading faster due to no need for hover to preview. Again, it may be something that might take some adjustment but if it helps the shops load faster than I'm all for it. :)
On another note, I'm wondering if it's necessary to show the shop owner's HA on the left there? I know that's the style we've all gotten accustomed to, but perhaps if that whole left "blank" space was changed into more shop space it could be better utilized to squeeze in another item per row? It's not a huge problem, but that space there just feels almost like empty wasted space. If the shop owner HA is something that is staying then perhaps somehow have it combined with the top banner/header space so that the space underneath it can be utilized for the shop?
I know it's probably there to look similar to the NPC shops "style" where the NPC is in there, but I think most NPC shops have the NPC as art in the banner anyway? With exception to holiday/special shops which it seems some still have that NPC on the left.
Of course these are just suggestions, I appreciate all the work you've put into reworking the code for CW shops (and all non-cw shop related fixes too). I definitely did not read any of your response as argumentative, I just hope my criticisms come out as constructive and not complaining. I seriously appreciate everything you've done. :) <3
Thank you again! :)
im so excited im so excited im so excited
No worries at all! These are great things to discuss and I'm glad for the opportunity to talk about them.
The thing we've always liked about having the CW releaser's HA there is that it gives an extra personal touch to the shop. It's a subtle thing perhaps, but having the HA image reminds you that this is a real person, another user, maybe a friend even, who you're supporting. They put the shop together. The social component of CWs is really important, and that's why we like showing HAs and headshots everywhere, to sort of humanize the shops. Right now I'm not seeing a convincing argument that the trade-off for increased items-per-row would be worth it.
I am hoping that the items-per-row issue will not be as bad as you're imagining. Of course, we won't know for sure until we get to the beta testing stage, but based on what I see on my own screen (and I've been browsing a lot of shops with the new layout that have dozens of items in them) it doesn't seem like it will be problematic.
One thing that will also help with this is responsive design. With the new layout, we can shrink the HA as the width/size of the screen/browser shrinks, and I'm considering hiding the HA entirely on small screens where space conservation becomes more important. It'll definitely be something we keep evaluating as we move forward :)

I think you're right that I'm probably overthinking this lol. I'm sure once I see it and use it a bit I'll be able to adjust. Change is good. :)
I feel this may encourage me to make smaller category types to prevent tons of scrolling because of the previews, but otherwise I'm on board for the rest of this.
I'll be happy to see if after this customer-based update, if we get a releaser-based update for the back end C:
TY for your work so far! Hope you're feeling better these days P:
