So currently, when viewing a shop, there is that nifty "Wishlist Search" button displayed at the top that brings you to a page where all your wishlist items have been separated. (For example, my shop leads to this.) (I love this button, this button is amazing.)
My proposal: Allow the ability to search a shop for anyone's wishlist. Naturally, the automatic functionality would be your own wishlist. But perhaps also have a separate fill box below the button that'll allow us to search for anyone's wishlist (by plugging in a username or ID).
Mostly, it's to allow for easier gift giving. Back in yesteryear, we could view someone's entire wishlist and do an account wide search for items we owned. I understand that took an extreme amount of site resources, so I'm not asking for that back (though it'd be nice). Searching in a particular shop seems like a nice, isolated way of doing things. (And right now, there are limits on both shop size and wishlist size that might provide some safeguards.)
Currently, the process of finding a bday gift could be a long thing potentially. Have to delve in to a WL that might have 20 sections. Maybe sort by price and find something half way up. Try to find something meaningful that's at a price you could afford. Endless "account search" hits. You might have no idea that you have an item sitting in your shop that's also on that list.
Having a shop search would make it a step quicker. Obviously, people could still delve through the WLs to have a more tailored and personal experience, but this is a moderate step in between.
So for example, I want to give my nice pal a gift. The normal url for searching is this:
https://subeta.net/user_shops.php/shop/4070/wishlist But perhaps, there's a fill box where I could type the UN, and a new page could be created with url this: https://subeta.net/user_shops.php/shop/4070/wishlist/217 (Since Amber's ID is 217.) And it would show all the items in that shop that are on Amber's wishlist. If you're searching your own shops, you know what items you could pull for a quick gift. If you're searching someone else's shop, you know what you could buy.
Something like this would be cool! Since we can already search shops for items we have on our own wishlists, I don't see this being something that should put a lot of extra strain on the servers either.
Hopefully this is something that could be implemented. It would be a nice compromise to removing the account search feature from wishlists.
I like it!
Can't see any downsides to it and all you'd really need would be an input field to add someone's user name (I'd rather see it by user name, easier than working out their user id).

This actually would be really helpful, yes please!
I'd love this!! It would make things easier when it comes to WLs.
this is a great idea!

That would be such an amazing and muchly appreciated feature!

If it's do-able this would be brilliant.
I would like to see something like this implemented.
Like a good neighbor, stay over there!

Thanks everyone! Really the only problem I see for this isn't related to implementation, but more in the avenue of staff already not liking the impact it has on back end resources. It's certainly possible that this wishlist search feature is pretty intensive, and it's only kept around because it isn't very high use. (Vs using it for other people's wishlists would probably be pretty popular.)
I'd love to get some staff feedback one way or another. (And if any staff have read this suggestion- it would certainly be an excellent thing to get onto the site before Luminaire!)
I really like this idea! If it's possible, I'd love it to become a feature.
Got a bit of a hoarding problem on my end and being able to comb through a shop or a gallery with this would save so much time (and cut back on repeated searches) when I want to gift someone.
before we have this button that a item from friend WL we owned, i no understand why they take this helpful button away... was so much easier to gift, special on x-mas if we rember the friends we no see every day caugh... ;) .. wish this button come back...
the rest -- good idea finger up
