What kind of map do I need to put together in order to do a Carl quest? I'd appreciate any imput.

You need the Uncharted Land Map pieces. You can see all 9 of them here (link), and I don't think they're very expensive right now.

thank you for your help.. I'll go now and purchase them. also.. forgive me for sounding like an idiot but where do I find the Omen Islands?

The Omen Islands will automatically show up on the Explore map once you've completed the Uncharted map pieces.

Once you have them all, you can go to the Treasure Maps link on the Games page to turn them in. (direct link here)

You can only complete and turn in the Uncharted Map one time on your account, to get access to the Omen Islands.
