We have threads for tv shows and movies so just figured this belonged here too.

What is the last book you read or what book are you reading?

I just finished Lies She Told by Cate Holahan. It was pretty good.

X by Sue Grafton. There are a lot of x references in the story, but she just left the title like it is I swear this story contained followups to several other side stories that were never resolved before, because the detective is not all-knowing.

That is a very long series, lol. I may have to look into one day.

I am currently reading 7th Heaven by James Patterson. It is also part of a series. I have been reading a book from it about every few books for about a month so I do not get burnt out on the series as a whole.

The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu

I really like this book but I have been in such a reading slump so I really have not been reading anything over the last 2 weeks. It just sort of sits by my bed begging to be finished.... ;;

Now I am reading Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King. It is pretty good, not really a horror but still a good read.

Some story by Martha Grimes, wasn't able to finish it. Somebody writer was trying to kill someone else agent who clearly deserved it, but couldn't quite manage it. This is kind of awful, what's a mystery story if nobody dies?

Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by: Kate DiCamillo

Cool book about a rabbit doll who was first fain and selfish but he fall into the ocean. A fisherman found him after a storm and then he learns to know different kind of people in many years. This book tells about how "old toys", (like the rabbit doll himself), can tell about how people handle with with the belongings from each other. It happen still now overall in the world, in reality too.

Imager L E Modesitt Jr. surprisingly large quantity of murder for Modesitt, and very little bullet proofing, given the technology of the time and the way he sticks neatly to it throughout the story. If aluminium is rare and magic can absorb a saber-stab then no fucking way are bullets as deadly as they are.

Right now I am reading Ghost Story by Peter Straub. I recently looked up a list of the best horror novels and it was on there so I decided to give it a go. So far it is not scary but it is a decent read so far.

I was reading Blood of Dragons: Volume Four of the Rain Wilds Chronicles by Robin Hobb. It's the fourth and final book. It's about a group of people and their dragons who are trying to get to a long lost city where the dragons used to live before their species vanished.- They go upriver. They struggle. Everyone is unhappy.- And that's about it for all the books.. It's not very good imo :/ I'm disappointed considering I usually really like his books and being that it's the last in the series I was ready for fireworks and action and good stuff.. but it's just more of the same from the last book.. everyone's still struggling and unhappy. Nothing dramatic or interesting happens in the first half. I stopped reading it and switched to a new author (for me).

Currently reading Scourge by Gail Z. Martin and so far it's good, I'm only on chapter two. It's about a world in which mundane jobs also have a magical side to them and this book follows the story of three brothers who are undertakers. Not only do they collect the dead bodies but they also have to get rid of restless/avenging spirits and deal with monsterous creatures called Ghouls. Not gonna lie, I immediately started picturing the guys from Supernatural lol ;)

James Patterson is like that guy who always writes the lawyer stories, they're good but yeah you wanna pace yourself. =---p== Imager Intrigue, also by Modesitt. In this story they've finally figured out Protection From Bullets, but not Explosives until the lead character just plain Marty Stus one. In this book you discover that people deliberately aren't talking to each other, which makes the previous two books look a little less stupid.

Spider Bite by Jennifer Estep. Oh gosh golly, porn, gore and murder porn, competent heroines suddenly going idiotically childlish like only found in romance novels, inconsistent magic systems, and homophobia all within the first one hundred pages. This happens wthin a story where the author cannot remember what entirely different things she told you three pages ago. I'm reading it in horror, the same way you glance at the National Enquirer at the supermarket checkout line.

Yeah, I like to space out Patterson books but I really do like him because of the short chapters. I just got done reading Along Came a Spider(never did watch the movie) from him and it was pretty good. I love to read but I have a hard time with longer books and chapters because sometimes my attention span just does not cooperate. I just bought a new Stephen King novel called Sleeping Beauties and holy crap what a long read it will be. The worse part is that it is hard back so my forearms are going to be looking like Popeye by the time I am done reading it,lol. I am in no hurry to start it.

Death of a Ghost MC Beaton (Mary Chesney)

Another goofy Hamish Mac Beth story. This one's got bloodthirsty outsiders galore. Lots of dead bodies this time, but unusually for his small cabotcove-ish town, nobody who is truly a local dies.

Another VI Warshawski story. She fakes you out into thinking it's nuclear, but it's something more awful.
