Experiment is the "error" image, but what if instead of him, a random Experiment popped up instead? I dislike on sight because I associate it with things not working >_>

I can sympathize with the suggestion because I hate too for the same reason, but I get the point/joke, and I wouldn't want any other experiment to pop up for errors... because like Frederick said, I'd end up hating all of them :P I just won't ever own a .

(Although a 404 is actually a "file not found" error and is the image for ALL errors, so it's not really accurate... but then it's not feasible to have a different image for every type of error, etc. And, again, I don't want to hate every pet, ha.)

The 404 Experiment was useful compared to the one we had before, people would make errors to see it. I think it should remain as it is.

if it were going to change, i'd vote for changing it to this image, because we're already conditioned to hate it -- it's the "site is down/be back shortly" terracoon. but i do like the 404 living up to its namesake even if i only ever see it when i refresh too early in shops, so idk. i don't think it's a huge deal.
