This thread is for general advice on fighting Hydragellos. Top prize for fighting him is

Tip number 1: Freezing is your friend.
these are all scrolls with a freeze chance. others exist - I can add more if anyone wants.
If you have a problem surviving for more than the first turn, starting at t4, you can use a and a 100% freezer, such as to freeze Hydragellos and have a chance at a free hit at him where he can't hurt you.
is another item that starting at t5, it will block all damage done to you for one turn and also has a small freeze chance.
The more you can freeze him, the more damage you can do before you get killed. It is highly beneficial to
Tip number 2: Modifications Blessings are disabled for this fight, so mods like blessing of natural armor and parched aren't super beneficial. My favorite mods for boss fights are which provides 5 extra icons per mod plus a chance at a curse. The other one I like for this is which can provide a chance at double damage. If you happen to land a crit, there is a chance you'll get a "double crit" which is 4x the damage - one crit from the mod and one crit from the natural speed based crit formula.
Tip number 3: Damage Calculations The way I estimate my damage, I count how many turns I survive each time and multiply it by how much damage I do on a regular hit without crits. So if my damage range is something like 1500-2500, and I usually last around 10 turns, I know I do about 15,000 to 25,000 damage a battle. You can find how many battles you've done by going to this page, clicking "View Pet Stats" for the pet you're fighting with, and finding Hydragellos.
Just go here You can read about it starting here
Tip number 4: Weapon Selection Weapons vary greatly from tier to tier, and even user to user based on preference. A basic boss fighting weapon set should include:
-Two attackers: these are infinite use weapons that do damage. the more icons they do, the better they are. some can heal and defend too, but in a fight where you can die and heal over and over again, you want to focus on damage. Mod slots are also important when picking an attacker, so the more mod slots, the better. -Bombs: these are once per battle weapons that do more damage than your usual attacker. These are great to use against Hydragellos when he's frozen. -100% Freezer: This is an item that freezes 100% of the time. Gorgun, Deluxe Death Shard, Gate keeper Collar of Slavery, Simple Catoblepas Wheeley Toy, Intricate Energized Helmet are all examples. It's better to pick one that does some damage, like Simple Catoblepas Wheeley Toy or Deluxe Death Shard instead of the Intricate Energized Helmet -Full Blockers: If you have trouble surviving, these are great. The full blockers are Rainbow Vortex, Shinwas Temple Shard, and Amulet of Neutrality.
Healers aren't necessary for the fight, you can always die and go back in the battle. You want to focus on doing damage.
Random tips -Use the healer after each battle instead of healing with a potion, then fighting a weak opponent and healing against that. Even though the healer will cost more sP, it saves you a lot of time. -You can bookmark the link to heal your specific pet and open that up each time your pet needs healed
That's all I can think of for right now. Additions may come. If I missed anything or you think I should add anything, let me know.
Thank you for putting together a guide! Did you mean the singed baguette? You put parched but that gives a blessing :x
yeah thanks :X lemme switch that out. that's definitely the one I meant haha
I know parched is so awesome but not for today haha. My bit of advice is also to visit the healer when you die instead of wasting time using a healing potion or battling someone else to restore health.
I'll throw that in, thanks. some people suggest that way to save money but it isn't worth it imo
pro tip : if your HP doesn't drop to zero you don't die

I haven't tested RV with my T4 but Subetalodge says it only fully blocks all icons at T5? So T4 pets have only the Negating Pylonic and STS as full block options :D
is it t5? I couldn't remember and was too lazy to check, lemme fix that
Hang on let me double check first [edit] Yup I just tested with my T4. It blocks 3-4 icons per type. It'll only fully block at T5.
awesome thanks for checking :) I thought maybe it was the same as STS, couldn't remember
Honestly, I've spent 5 mil healing my pet to get the 5 mil damage. Even if it cost me 20 mil to heal my pet for the core, it would still be worth it.
Pro tip: if your enemy has infinite health, it won't die
definitely. not sure what the price of the core will be after this war, but in the past, it's been 350m at the cheapest, so 20m is a steal
the enemy gets it

I didn't bother healing the other way too. That's more for BQs or regular battles but for boss battles with a prize worth hundred of millions it's not worth it to buy healing potions after every battle, heal up for a teensy amount then hit another opponent for the full heal. We're easily talking about double the amount of battles needed here. Totally not worth it.
Yeah some people might forget though or be cheap haha. Don't be cheap during boss battles. I started to do the other healing out of habit and stopped myself.
Freezing scrolls you might want to add: Gelaspell Unstable Fairy - the attack of which is unreliable, but it gives you the healing advantage.
I use Psychos and Shriekks with my healing main attackers and when Gela is frozen, I use cursing weapons that have a freeze option with the infinite freezing scroll. Which more often than not results in chain freezing for me.
I AM cheap (and slow, needing breaks, esp. now with the difficult reading of scrolls), have unlimited potions and use the Minis for healing, since I still don't have a Slayer. And obviously we have tons of time until the last of August but need to do the quests simultaneously.
What's the views on gelaspell as an infinite scroll, with the chance to freeze, versus aftershocks, which has a higher heal?
bird and bear and hare and fish give my love her fondest wish
I went with TA over gelaspell after I used up all my other scrolls so I could keep surviving after some big hits and only really die from the instakill attack
After doing some searching here and there, I believe I have come to the conclusion that this scroll is not available to me lol I wasn't strong during the excavation event, and there's none floating around sooooo sticking with aftershocks!
