Hey everyone!

Just had a random question/thought: are Subeta users into pet adoptables like people on Neopets are/used to be? ((Adopts are bases that are made of all the pets and sometimes their site-specific colors (for example, common legacia and all its available colors). occasionally, artists do custom orders of people's ocs/pets, so like, if you had a unique legacia design, an adopt artist could make it using the base for you to "adopt" and put on your pet's page/lookup/ect.))

I used to be a pretty big adoptable person back in the day. I'd love to do that with Subeta too, maybe even make some customs that could get some spare sP or something, but I don't know if it'd be anything people were interested in? Because we don't really have pet web pages and stuff. :0c but I think it'd be fun to do anyways... what do you guys think?

OH MAN I REMEMBER ADOPTS!! i made this set of wocky adopts on neo when i was 14 and they were ugly af but i was so proud of myself haha ;;

i remember just collecting all the adoptables and tossing them on my petpages and getting customs lmao it was so fun dunno how many people on subeta would be into it, but adoptables were super fun and i kinda miss them q v q

MAN SAME i made the ugliest uni and peo adopts but it was sooo much fun and i loved it tbh ! I would love to do the same thing for subeta pets but idk if anyone would be interested ; v ;

It was so fun and such a nice way to collect art + get closer to the community! aaaaa

Oh man, I remember these! I made a bunch of gelert ones back in the day.

I want to say people might appreciate the nostalgia or genuinely get back into it with cute art, but pet pages are viewed so much differently here than they were on neo. I think part of it is bc on neo you had pet profiles AND pages, but here those are one and the same. So if someone is working on a cohesive layout and whatnot for a pet there's not really a place for adopts, you know? Still, might be fun to try and see what happens. (And not everyone is into elaborate pet profiles, so it might be a way for even the most casual of pet enthusiasts to decorate and get involved in the community? I dunno!)

ye i agree with , i wouldn't even know where to put adopts on my own pet profiles welp i think customs might be more popular tho?? the art market here is pretty big~

honestly i would 100% be down to making some tho! both for nostalgia and bc i need to practice drawing quads more heh

i looked for my old wocky adopts but can't get into my old photobucket account (and their site loads so bloody slowly now i don't even want to try honestly) but i found the traditional sketch i did and oh boy, the nostalgia's real lmao

yeah that was my thought tbh, the profiles here don't really allow much room for extra. Though I do like the simplicity, so it's not a bad thing at all. Just means we adapt and do different things :yc

It could be fun to try at least! Even if people just save them or whatever. They could also ?? be pretty neat custom layovers - but I also know layovers are things people (myself included) would rather be unique than from a base. So! It's a thought at least haha.

Yeah, I did start making some irion adoptables a while back! I never finished them though since there wasn't any interest. This is the post with what I made so far.

I'm assuming you mean custom ones made from a base for overlays? bc in the overlay rules (for uploading a custom overlay, not for just using coding to change the pet image on their profile) say that no two people can upload the same image, so any "generic" adopts made for public user use wouldn't be allowed in that sense. (Though that may not even be an issue bc, as you said, people prefer customized things anyway.) Just thought it'd be worth mentioning!

The forum side image idea from [userid=400124] is the best place I can think to put them. And even then people seem to prefer custom/unique art so I'm not sure how likely it'd be for this idea to catch on. Which is a shame, bc those are super cute ! (Though, and maybe I'm a small enough minority to not count, but I'd never seen those before as I stopped using tumblr ages ago, so while there wasn't interest there that doesn't mean there wouldn't be any interest? Might be worth making a thread advertising them (adoptables? premades? free forum images? idk how you'd want to advertise it) that you can update as you make more, assuming you still want to do all the colours.)

and ahh wish I could find the gelert ones I made. I can't even begin to guess what photobucket I might have used and don't remember my neo login so I can't go check so ah well. Enjoying seeing everyone else's though; so nostalgic ;u;

Aaaaaah thank you both!! I'm glad to hear someone likes these. Maybe someday I will finish the rest of the site colors when I get some more free time. And after that I might offer up customs for a price. Thankfully I still have my files for these so I gave a whirl at making a custom for my girl Marbled.

I have no remains of the adoptables I made back on neopets, but they were so fun to collect back then! I remember I made these adoptables in the first place to try to get more emphasis on pets on the site. Granted I wouldn't have too much variation in species myself, but I would love seeing some more adoptables around.

Even though it sounds like there's not much use for them, it's totally fun finding out who used to make them and not, as well as seeing them! Such a nostalgia trip haha.

I think on Flight Rising adoptables are popular? But they're usually forum signatures or very tiny pixels (50x50 or 100x100). I know I've gotten some customs before! so at least there's a place that's still very ACTIVE (bc neopets' art community isn't as thriving anymore unfortunately u___u) that has a way for adopts to be used and such. c:

i log on fr once in a blue moon and don't go on the forums much, so i'm not really familiar with the adopt community there ; D ; i know when kaylune started adopts were kinda big?? but this was in like the first two weeks of the site opening i honestly don't even know if it's still active lmao

It looks like I found the right topic because I was wondering about the same thing. I have quite a few designs floating around in my head which are waiting to be used but I wouldn't use them myself. (I'm working on other projects). So I was thinking to sell them.

Maybe you guys could also create a ping group for people would be interested in adopting or looking for new designs? I hope you guys don't mind me pop in.

(Also I used to collect them a long time ago and I had so many of them listed on one page which became very huge. My old poor laptop couldn't load it haha).

- its a thriving community and very uplifting -for the most part-. There's some drama but you know, that always happens so :I I just joined Kaylune yesterday and I'm lovin' it! Haven't ventured into the art section yet though because I'm not sure how to go about it. Also its weird having to, like, unlock the whole world and stuff.

- I think you're thinking of the other adoptable definition, since this isn't for selling designs, but for giving people art off of a base for charas that already exist! But I can imagine selling designs might be popular too. :yc I don't know how well they'd sell on here though, since people already kinda have their own designs? but it might be worth a shot! :0c That sounds like a great idea though, I'd be down if that were to happen!
