How many people forget (especially when doing quests) to wait 5 seconds between main shops purchases, leading to the error screen? Also, how often do you forget?
On that same token, how often do you think it was 5 seconds between purchases, but when you went to make the second, it gave you the error screen?
Since I'm asking, I'll offer my personal experience, first: I definitely forget while doing quests, between 1-10 times a day--yes, 10! O.O Though, sometimes I'll be very careful about counting the seconds, and go to make the second purchase after 5 (what I thought was after 5, anyway), but get the error screen about once or twice every other day.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who does this, so let's all share our pain in our bad memories, rushes to finish quests, and/or timing glitches in the second count!
For me it's kind of forgetting, but more like I just get into a rhythm of click to buy, next tab, click to buy again that sometimes I don't pay attention to see if both/all of the items are from NPC shops and then get hit with the error.
It's not that big of a deal, but sometimes it does throw me off if I get the error and then close the tab without realizing, then go to turn in the items and it tells me I don't have everything.
I'm also usually listening to music or doing something else while I quest, so I'm only partially paying attention in the first place. It still doesn't usually take me that long to finish, just some minor inconveniences along the way. But I understand why they have the wait time for restocking.
Same here. I just get going so fast and don't take 2 seconds to look at the shop I'm buying from haha
Very often. I changed my habits, and now buy the quest item from the user's shop if the prices are similar to the NPC shop. That significantly reduced collision of 5 second waiting times.
However, when the database is slow to update, I get a message saying that I don't have all the items, although all the items show up in my inventory around 5-10 seconds later. I end up buying duplicate items sometimes because I thought I don't have them because of that.
: I'm pretty sure what you're doing is more like Laurey and Lantern said, too, since you've been on Subeta for how many years now?
Now me, I just started a few weeks ago, so I actually still 'forget', once most days, then end up doing the same thing as Laurey and Lantern said once or more. Why IS there a 5 second wait time, anyway?
RIP. Happens all the time with me. Buying for quest, and then I realized that I don't have it in my collection and try to buy it again..welp
It has to do with people restocking valuable items to sell. Especially when it comes to limited shops like Freylise Trading Co. or Migrating Masks. Those are seasonal shops and only open during certain times of the year, so they pretty much always sell out while they are open. Whenever the shops get more items in, people buy them up very quickly. So the 5 second wait limit helps ensure that more than just one or two people are able to get something (as in, one person can't just click really fast on all of the items and get them all in one go).
I shop search each requested item for a quest in new tabs. When buying from a main shop I give the tab time to load before going to buy that next item, so I don't usually get the error. Sometimes I go a bit too fast and have to try again though.
: Thanks for clearing that up! It makes sense, though, now that you've explained.
Wow! I wasn't expecting so many responses, LOL! I figured maybe one person would say something. :) Thanks to everyone who answered!
I guess part of what I do is like Laurey/Lantern described, that's true. Getting into the flow and just clicking because they're both from shops is a problem. :D
: I definitely sometimes buy user shop items instead of main shop ones, but sometimes I take the main shop ones because I have the 15% off buff and get a better price (usually by about 2-300 sP) from the main shop, otherwise I'd do it a lot more often. I DON'T play to make sP, but I play frugally and don't like to spend sP I don't have to for an item--that's sort of built in to me now.
: Don't you mean you 'don't play to make sP'? O.O That's so not the person I know...
: ...Oops...Bad typo there...Thanks! Fixed it for what it should have said.
It always happens to me when I am doing quests. Like said above, I just get into a flow and it is quicker than 5 seconds apparently.
Every time haha. I'm so impatient when it comes to restocking.
...
: Yup, the flow is faster than five seconds, hence a lot of hits on the 5 second wait notice! :D
This happens to me quite a bit I'll admit. I tend to try and move fast during quests, which leads to that screen a lot.
I do all the time, but now I've also gotten into the habit of closing the tab right after I buy the item, so I have to open a new tab, too.
: Yup!
: That doesn't sound like a bad idea, actually. Now if only I wasn't so impatient! :D I'd have to try it and see if I can adapt my habit. Thanks!
On a side note: cheers to all the new posters on this thread! Everyone's always welcome!
