Come share your latest anime and manga discovery. If you use websites such as My Anime List, feel free to link it here if you feel comfortable! ❤️
My "list" such as it is bounces around a lot because I'm pretty laid back about what gets put in front of me, be it TV or book/manga. Mostly when it's up to me, I just default to cooking shows.
(There was a really funny anime I remember briefly watching a couple episodes of that had to do with.. cooking? Making bread? My memory is so bad. Might've been called Yakitate? There were so many bread jokes & over the top acting, which were my favourite parts.)
Lately, my roommate's been trying to collect some of the older things they had from their childhood; so they've been buying up used manga online. Stuff like Eyeshield 21 (they were super excited to get that name on this site, btw!) & Naruto. Which means I'll end up rereading those, too, soon. We're currently going slowly through Naruto & Naruto: Shippuden on Hulu, as well.
Aside from that, we've recently been alternating our lineup with some sports-related anime because of one of my roommate's friends. His current fixation has been Big Windup!/Ookiku Furikabutte. (I think I got that right.) It's way more fun to share his enthusiasm if we know what's going on.
When I can get my partner to sit down with me (he's got a lot of issues with focusing on anything TV-related, especially after getting home from work), we watch Bleach together because it's his favourite from his childhood. I've probably seen the whole series at least 3 times through now, I think.
I really enjoyed watching the various Natsume series but I think we finished what's available. Nyanko-sensei is my favourite character from that.
I'm sure there's easily half a dozen more, but my memory is so bad I wouldn't know which ones to put here until someone else mentions them. Then my brain will inevitably go AH-HA!

You literally had me at "Natsume". Do you know how much I'm in love with this series? So much that I've seen the entire thing in one sitting until season 6 aired last season. I used to think slice of life were boring but Natsume captured me in a heartbeat. The soft colours, the universe, the double meanings, the lessons of life ... I just love it too much to leave it. It's my favourite of favourite q___q ❤️
Ngl - I want to own a cat like Nyanko. I love how sensei pretends to protect Natsume just for the book ... But we all know he's a lying liar haha. I do have a list hosted on a website. Would it be helpful for you :O?
I am so late at replying lmfao.
Had a doc appointment that wiped me out for a while again. (Why are doctors office & visiting rooms filled with terrible chairs?? I hate it.)
I'm so thrilled to find you love Natusme too. Slice of life is my favourite kind of anime/manga concept (with the shounen tropes of NEVER GIVE UP & FRIENDSHIP IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE WORLD being up there as well).
Nyanko is hilarious. I loved him even before I realised more about him. I have a character in a game I play that I took a lot of inspiration from his behaviours for, but particularly the rolling around in their animal form when frustrated & wanting their food. B)
A list would probably be very helpful! My brainmeats are just not what they used to. More like swiss cheese these days. Thanks!

It's alright. Please take your time to answer haha. I totally get it on the whole terrible chairs comment. I have quite the booty and most chairs are painful so ... I just stand b__b; Most places I go to are like: Them: "why don't you take a seat? c: ?" Me: "I'm young! I'll stand haha. But thanks"
Here is my animu list! I love Natsume so so much damnit. I have all these feels all over again haha! I also love shounens but most of them are too boring/mainstream for me. However, have you heard of ... Boku No hero Academia 8)?
Here is what I've been watching. They are mostly seasonal animes. I've also added a few disclaimer on some of them!
Ballroom e Youkoso Boku no Hero Academia 2nd season Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works - Prologue Hitorijime My Hero Airing (LGBQT - yaoi (boys love) Kakegurui (tw: gambling) Konbini Kareshi Little Witch Academia New Game!! (second season)
SOMEONE TOOK PICTURES OF JOJO COSPLAY AT THE CON I was supposed to attend there is your angle your nut boi
mista
They are even in my local newspaper. Mista with a group of Jojo's cosplay (I can recognize Dio and Giorno) I don't have the patience to go thru the entire tag to find them again sobs q___q
Natsume yuujinchou is one of my favourites! ( You may try Mushishi as well). Atm I am watching Castlevania and rewatching Ouran Host Club for the Xth time XD. And I'll give "Enmusubi no Youko Chan" a try since I like otherworldly stuff. :3
(If you need a list recommended for your taste I'll try. I'm something like a living anime encyclopedia. lol)
♥ Dance with Asmo ♥ (- "Obey Me!" Character masquerade challenge to myself. XD)
Whoever hated Natsume Yuujinchou can eat their hat. I binge watched the 5 seasons in a week. I dearly love this show and will, forever! q___q Thank you for the kind offer but I've watched over 200 animes so I'm kinda of well versed myself haha.
I just finished Little Witch Academia. I regret dropping such a beautiful show when it was airing. It's a beautiful show about growth, pursuit of your dreams, friendship, love, grief, regret ...
It's a beautiful show. I only hope for OVAs or a second season so I can enjoy and learn more about the other characters!! ❤️

I've fallen behind on my seasonal anime... but what I was watching was New Game+. There are others but I've fallen behind..! Re:Creators, Fate/Acocrypha... Now THOSE I could watch...but I was also watching Nuwa Chengzhang Riji.. which is actually finished and all but the subbers stopped it !! so far.. last I checked!! Bummer.. I'm "watching" a few other shows that aren't airing right now but I've fallen behind on those as well. In favor of watching short stuff and a long (and now classic!!) series with my friend.. but I guess it'll pick up.
As mentioned in this thread.. I've been interested in Natsume Yuujinchou.. (mostly since there seems to be a lot of merch... ) but been turned off by the amount of seasons. So I guess it's worth watching through all those seasons..?
Little Witch Academia was so good!!!, The second OP really spoke to me as well, about the whole.. not yet at your ultimate goal but trying to get there.. but the whole series was overall real quality. Who is your favorite character? Or.. your favorite chapter of the story or such.. I gotta say, I really enjoyed both Akko and Lotte.. but Sucy takes my favorite. I really liked the side characters as well, and the rivals. I've always enjoyed a story where the rivals aren't one-sided evil cartoon villains... And such is def the case in LWA... They all seem like people, if not a /little/ exaggerated.. instead of completely exaggerated! You know? Or if not, I do agree with what else you said about the series,.. did you like anything else about it? Um.. In case you didn't know.. there are some movies and stuff that preceded the series (I haven't watched them myself..ooh x_x... but, yeah, I wish for post-series OVAs as well.

As for manga, I've been reading JoJo as mentioned here as well, though I'm only on chapter 3.. fallen behind on that as well as a number of other manga. Recently read a bit more of yotsubato. Would like to read more.. Have a lot more on hold including Kurosagi Shitai Takuhaibin which cut off at a certain point at the site I was reading until I realized there were more chapters lolol... such is the way of fan translations..!!
... Long post.
I'm not one for anime; manga-wise I'm (slowly) making my way through Tokyo Ghoul, Chi's Sweet Home (does this count?), and Carciphona (by one of my favourite artists: Shilin) - though I'm only through the first volume of the latter, and not even that regarding Chi.
(I'm a slow reader, and don't really have the conscience to pick up a manga when I have other things I "should" be doing. :'D I usually go forever without reading anything, then at some point I'll binge-read the entire series in a day. /shrugs)
I also want to get into FMA again, but the thing is that I have the first... five? six? seven? volumes in Norwegian, then they just stopped printing them. I've got a couple of the following volumes in English, but since I want the entire series in the same language (& format!) that means I need to get a hold of all the first books again, and then continue on from there, and it's all such a hassle really. /: We just got a manga shop in the city closest to where I live(!), but last time I was there they didn't have the first volumes in singles - just big collections, and I really don't want that. Am I making things difficult for myself? Probably. But I'd much rather wait & get things right than do things 'wrong' only to feel weird & off about it, and then have it affect my entire experience of the series. ;;;
(I'm not one for reading manga online either, so.. yeah. ~)
I love my lesbean in New Games! Who's your favourite girl? I would have never found myself watching such anime before but I love it. It's very "moe" and slice of life which ... isn't my style all that much. But I guess you kind of grow up at some point haha. I didn't like Re:Creators. The music is phenomenal (being made by a genius) but I couldn't connect with the story nor their characters. It was quickly dropped.
Definitely give Natsume a try. It's worth watching but don't binge watch if at some point you find it boring. This anime is like a very sweet candy. If it gets too sweet, leave it and try again. I just really love the meaning of each episodes. It leaves me very crispy and warm, sometimes even nostalgic.
I watched the pilot and the movie before they aired the anime so, I was well-versed to start it. I don't know why I decided to drop it. I guess I often take very blunt and quick decisions. Either way, I've found myself charmed by Akko (being able to relate to her) and Amanda. However, I cannot dislike anyone in the anime.
I am a terrible sucker for Akko and Diana growing friendship (dare I say ship) or even Andrew. BUT THE FRIENDSHIP IN THIS ANIME IS SLAYING ME! q___q
T-Tokyo Ghoul. I don't want to sound elitist (really!) but please, consider dumping the anime in the trash and picking up the manga. Studiot Pierrot has made a disgusting adaptation of Tokyo Ghoul. They modified a lot of things that made no sense compared to the manga. Kaneki lose his depth in the anime. But I will respect your choice either way! As for FMA - I'm trying to watch FMAB but long series are difficult. I have the attention span of a small shrimp and find myself being bored unless it can captive me (like Little Witch Academia per instance). Do you enjoy collecting mangas? I only have a few volumes here and there. I have Tokyo Ghoul from 1 to 5 and volume 8 (it was cheap) as well as the 3 volumes of Madoka Magica. I need to catch up but they are expensive!
;;
I literally don't watch anime (I barely watch tv, films, anything of the sort!) - it's all manga. xD
/edited my first post to clarify
I am (a) 33 years old (fart XD) and watch Anime since I am a toddler. So if anybody wants recommendations, hit me up. I'll be happy to help out. <3 (Since I am sick at home due to my menthal Illness I have lots of time as well since 2008. ;_; )
(I could make a list but it'd take me a couple days. I'll still try. Hopefully they are all listed there on myanimelist. If not I'll add them in the post in a spoiler with genre for you to find.)

I like it too, hehe. Yagami and Rin really act like a couple, it’s so fun. My faves are Aoba, Yagami and Umiko. Yeah, same here. I have watched quite a bit of slice of life, and enjoy it, but usually don’t go for the cute girls thing. But, well, this show is kind of different in that regard. I’m really a huge sucker for shows that take place in a workplace setting and show all the co-workers having fun, working hard and enjoying themselves lol. Yeah, Re:Creators is kind of.. I’m not sure what to make of it yet (I’m as I said, a little behind, but last saw ep 7). Already from the start I was unsure of how they would stretch the concept to 22 eps, it seems like a 12-ep show? It’s also super indulgent, haha. It was entertaining so far but I can definitely understand not wanting to watch it.
I see, thanks for that description of it. That kind of stuff is something I find very helpful, since there are different ways to «view» a show. So I’ll think of it as something best enjoyed in small doses :)
Ah, I see. I felt a little sheepish mentioning it, since I haven’t seen them myself yet ^_^’ Well, sometimes we make decisions that don’t make a lot of sense later down the road. At least you’ve seen the show now :) Yes, Akko was very charming. Amanda was great too! Yes, it’s nice to have shows that have all the characters be either likable or at least understandable/just human. I guess you could say it’s a benchmark for a good show, though there are so many shows where some characters are essentially just empty containers with one or two personality traits painted on the outside.
It gives me hope to have a nice work setting and environnement someday in the future haha! I especially love the colours in New Game. The animation is quite clean and smooth as well and the story is not too boring. The plot is thin but I kind of like it. I may pick up Re:Creators if I ever run out of things to watch. I did like the pilot and the universe but I think the blablabla has striken me as a boring narrative. The battle scenes are nice and that animation is nicely cut. The music is to die for but I just can't get into it q___q; In fact, I've been difficult to please these last few years.
Indeed. You either go full speed or you don't. I've tried Mushishi but couldn't get into it ... while it is in the same genre as Natsume. Weird.
I really want to learn more about the other witches ??? And Akko growing out of her pinch to finally use her powers. Does it has a manga? A novel? I'll need to check.
Oh absolutely! I've had one job so far, and it has actually mirrored that setting a bit. Everyone takes it seriously, thinks it's fun and is invested in the work.. (though what we did was pretty simple). A stark contrast to school in my experience, which is part of why I'm so enchanted by workplace settings. Since when I see shows with a school setting I already know that's not how school is, not for me anyway. The colors are indeed nice. I think the story works nicely for the slice of life genre. Re:Creators does have a kind of interesting concept.. well, I'm already invested so I'll keep watching lol. I haven't found the talk boring yet, but my friend also watching it said the same thing as you; too much boring talk and too little action.
Yeah, binging a show can be enjoyable but not all shows are cut out for it.. I kind of like having a show in my life for a few weeks or months instead of just a few days. Mushishi looks interesting but I haven't tried watching it yet, I heard it's slow paced.
I think LWA has created a universe with a lot of potential for more stories. SPOILER (click to toggle)
Croix's plotting is just one of many possible main narratives, this world seems so vast that they could do a lot of other things. They've established that magic and witches exist in other regions (so presumably the whole world), but it was dwindling. So now that magic is picking up again it could become more widespread through the world again... thus opening for settings in other parts of the world! Maybe that's too much to hope for, haha.
