Heyo, this morning I just started coding work on my first pet profile(with aspirations to Pet Spotlight someday, but first things first), but I've been a bit stumped on whether to start with the coding layout first or the background first and what the first steps should be and what the last steps should be with the fonts and the scrollbar stylings and the pages and the tabs and the AGH SO MANY ITEMS HOW DO YOU POSSIBLY CHOOSE.

So um.. simpler questions: What do you do to figure out the arrangement of the divs? What's the best way to go about handling the code, program-wise? Biggest items like div placement first or smaller details like fonts first? Work on the background first or work on the div placement first? xP Sorry if this is confusing.. x_x I've done a lot of dabbling in CSS and HTML, but as far as all-out profiles go, I'm fairly new.. ._.

i think most people start with their "reset code" first, so you have a nice, blank or mostly blank page, and then move on from there. from then on it's personal preference. i do mostly the same style of profile so i start with the background and font styling and such and then move on to positioning the pet image and all that.

I highly reccomend taking a peak at this thread- https://subeta.net/forums.php/read/856910/CHARACTER-A-Pet-Profile-Guide The guide is super helpful! Personally I like to do things in bits and pieces lol. which is not the best way I'm sure. But I try to I start off with the general layout (I'll make a mock up in photoshop or on paper) and then do the background, art bits, and then the coding. Edit: Okay, so the guide I linked was taken down apparently.

Good, so I'm not too far off by resetting everything first. xP

Aww, was that Pet Character's profile guide? I was looking around for it a few days ago and was sad to see it gone. :( Thanks for the help, though. :D

nah, that's probably everyone's first step. like i generally start with a basic design first, but i do plain profiles so i move on to the finicky details pretty quickly. p:

if you haven't looked through the sticky yet, i think this one is good for the visual example of pet profile 'skeletons' as it were -- even if you already know what's what, it's nice to have as a reference. there's one for custom css floating around too, i think it's neat.

and i used this one when i was figuring out divs for widowmaker's profile. it looks blank but if you quote the first post and copy-paste it into word or something, it should all come up. it can be a little hard to read since there's spoiler tags and such in it, but it's super helpful.
