User and I, decided to create a topic about image hosting sites that will be just as good as Photobucket (just to recap, Photobucket is now forcing people to pay to pay for their services), moderate, fair or very poor.
I'm hoping to get feedback on all image hosting sites as we look for new image hosting homes.
(I hope this allowed)
It should be okay since Subeta actually encourages us to use 3rd party image hosting sites. They just want to make sure any off-site art is credited here & vice versa.
I have an imgur account and that particular site has been known to lose people's stuff at times -- no recovery of lost images. So I guess one lesson learned is to back up everything on your own hard drive if it means that much. I'm not thrilled with imgur for saving HAs either. It loads things too large and out of focus.
Before someone suggests I save my old avis here, I would point out that I have hundreds of them and I think it would strain the servers to store so many -- if we even can. I dk if there's a limit or not... And I hate the look of stylefile or whatever it is. I don't want my avis to look like some kid drew them on her notebook because she was bored in high school. So... I am thinking to try google next.
Anyone have any experience with it?
I signed up with ImageBB on Thursday afternoon, but I have been busy (work) and have not had the chance to move my images over. My Subeta images will be moved onto the new hosting site (ImageBB) on Monday.
Has anyone tried ImageBB and what have your experiences been like?
Battle Spoils I finally moved one of my style albums over to Google and I'll see how this goes...
EDIT: UPDATE
Linking to an album is fine. That has been smooth. I am having trouble getting just one image to show when it is outside of an album though. I dk why.
I forgot about this thread lol
LOL I didn't want it to necro when people have been asking me, just in general, what do do now that PB has decided they don't want users anymore. lol
Anyway, I am not terribly pleased with Google -- even though it got good reviews. Sorting photos, adding and deleting -- it all goes very smoothly. It is not very user friendly though to 3rd party hosting of a single pic, or for editing. Like imgur, it does upload photos larger than they really are, which is a problem is you want to post them later to a site other than FB.
I had to move my hosted images from Dropbox since they're discontinuing the public folder in September. So far imgbox.com seems to be the best hotlink-allowing image host I've found, but I have not tested it extensively. The second best was cubeupload.com, but they have no organization system so it's pretty user-unfriendly to view your uploads. I also tried postimage.io, which initially looked promising until I found out they compress large files; it would be okay for small files or anything where quality isn't a concern.
