I've noticed some users have more than the three item limit on their face layers, how are they able to do it? I've tried OLL before but it just extended the time I get three items on whatever layer. Anyone know?

Having a gold account gives you an extra layer too.

yes, but without that you only have two layers. That's why I'm confused, I know the gold account gives that third layer, but how are people getting five layers?

You can use multiple OLLs on the same layer. That's the only way I know of that someone would be able to get five layers.

wut, it actually adds on another layer now? Not just extends the time you have for your third layer?

yeah, they'd all count the same amount of time and are up at the same time. I use 3 OLLs for my face and have to buy three more each time they run out.
