I'd love to see some more items for Medicontra. Here's just a few off the top of my head that we don't really have much of:

  • Medical Braces (wrist, ankle, knee, back, etc.)
  • Glucose meters
  • Inhalers
  • Some more syringes/shots (The ones we have aren't really geared to the medical side of things? They're more Halloween-y)
  • Weekly pill boxes
  • Ear thermometer
  • Scrubs (Not sure if these should go here or somewhere else, but we don't really have any scrubs iirc!)
  • Cotton swabs (the only one I know of that we have is used, yuck!)
  • Face Masks

Can provide reference for what I mean, but I figured most of these are pretty straightforward!

idk if this is the right thread for this or if I should make my own, but maybe it would also be an idea to add more items relating to being deaf/hard of hearing like for instance books/pamphlets about sign language (I couldn't find any so far) since they also sell items related to braille?

I am ambivalent about the deaf stuff mentioned here as being in Medicontra. A Brailler and an Braille E-Book are pretty specialized in an era where audiobooks exist. Maybe they can optical read so that books not intended to be read by the blind can be? The tools for talking in any SL would be a computer and a monitor, which anyone could already have non-medicinally.

Sign Language is its own language, so I see books about it as belonging to Book Nook which has the other languages on book, instead of here as a medical item Books are not the best medium for this language. It's also a very visual language, so instead of being booked, that is translated into a foreign language (like English) and written static on paper, something else that is visual and filmlike should happen. Maybe it would be an app, or on a flash drive or seeing as how old the tech at Bits & Bites, on a VHS video or CD?

yeah I wasn't sure if medicontra would or wouldn't be the right place for it, sorry.. I mostly suggested a book because it was the first thing that came to mind, but I suppose visual formats would indeed be more suitable for the purpose.. I'm not deaf or hard of hearing myself I just noticed there weren't any items relating to sign language and didn't know where or how to address it properly, sorry if I stepped out of my lane in the process

Eye drop bottles (for those who require such medicine or other uses medically)

More bandages and casts perhaps some with writing and drawings on them like how people ask for their casts to be signed by friends?

What about actual medical testing machines and the like? X-Ray machines as well as MRI and EKG machines, etc. I dunno if they would work there but just tossing out the idea.

More portable breathing machines/masks/oxygen tanks and their refllls as well.

I went searching to see if there was already a suggestion for this, and lo and behold, there is! I'm here to voice my support <3 (I had looked them up earlier as I wanted to put some on my HA.)

I like the idea of bracers - it's something I can wear on a HA and not feel a little bit bad about/wondering if I should (like the wheelchairs and prostheses).

And maybe other kinds of generic medicines or maybe vitamins? Of the pills we have there, there's one antacid, four pain killers, and one for allergy relief, but there's a lot more variety of pills out there (like cold and sinus).

Face masks and bracers would be really cool. Actually everything mentioned would be really cool. Maybe even hormone shots for trans folk.

I was just looking for a microscope and I think that Medicontra would be a good place to sell it.

Also empty test tubes or a test tube set, the one I can remember is old art. Unused petri dish, other sciency stuff that you would use in a hospital to test for things.

There are a lot of things I'd like to get for my pet treasure chests that (I think?) we don't already have onsite. Without thinking too hard about it (and seconding those that have already been mentioned above):

over-the-counter pharmacy stuff

  • antiseptic cream, wipes, and/or liquid
  • indigestion tablets/syrup
  • allergy medicine: antihistamines, nasal spray
  • cold medicine: cough syrup, throat lozenges, Vicks rub, Lemsip (or whatever even is the international equivalent)
  • liquid painkiller (as given to kids - e.g. Calpol - or used by people who struggle to swallow tablets)
  • wider variety of bandages (particularly melolin pads + surgical tape)

basic hospital/ongoing care stuff

  • blood pressure cuff/monitor
  • oximeter (finger pulse monitor)
  • ear thermometer
  • medical penlight
  • TED stockings
  • IV fluids and drip stands
  • Zimmer frame
  • cellular blankets

...Arguably, that last might be better in Home Appliances (but then, arguably several things currently sold in Home Appliances might be better in Medicontra, namely the Hospital Bed and the various bandages).

Diabetes supplies might be nice

Aside from the aforementioned blood glucose meters and regular syringes, I'd appreciate testing strips for those meters, insulin, glucose tabs/gel if you need to toss in some edible items (They're used to treat low bloodsugar), insulin pumps might be a nice wearable

I think these could work well there too, they aren't quite medical supplies buuut...

Get well soon cards/flowers/balloons/etc. Sympathy cards with various messages. Wishing you a speedy recovery card/etc.

Giant bears/plushies holding hearts with positive messages on the heart.

Again just more items in general to give to people who may be sick or recovering.

Also a healer plushie and beanbag would be adorable!

Maybe Medicontra wouldn't be the ultimate best place to sell them but probably the most appropriate place we have for now.

Yeah more greeting card style items would be nice. I guess stickers have taken over from those though? But I like the get of a get well soon card, might work better for some TCs.

I loved the little jollin and cybill plushies we got for celebrations, could totally go for more pet-related plushies.

We need more healer items! Healer appreciation week anyone? haha.
