Hello all! I have had the pet named nb for a while and have been wondering what to do with them. I've already given them a genderless berry, of course, but other than that I'm not sure. I think it would be cool to get input from all of you and make them into a sort of group mascot c:

Here's some ideas I had for things I could include on their profile:

x A summary of what "nonbinary" means (or a "nonbinary FAQ") x Links to websites/resources where one can learn more about being nonbinary x Pride flags/buttons/images

I would love suggestions for what species and color they should be as well as what might be good to place in their treasure chest - which currently just contains a saheric gender-neutral doll I found :) A minion would be good to have as well!

I welcome any other suggestions you may have, even if it wasn't mentioned here.

One thought I had, is that we could have some happy Quentin items in the TC too. But Idk, how do we all feel about Quentin as an NPC? They seem to be the most well-known nonbinary NPC on subeta so I think they might be worth including in the profile, though not as a main focus, but just a couple TC items and maybe a mention could be nice. What do you think?

I think spectrum would be a nice colour for the mascot, as being non-binary covers a massive spectrum of what people are and how they present themselves! That's just me though. Also I have a bias towards wyllop as a species, but I really like how majestic the spectrum telenine looks! I'd be more than happy to chip in a big chunk for a spectrum potion as well, if others like the idea! <3

Editing to say, I'd also be more than happy to try and do a custom overlay for whatever pet we choose, to give a NB colour scheme. :)

For pet colors and species, I think a Spectrum Devonti would be a good choice. They're so happy and colorful. Also, design wise, they are very gender-neutral.

Maybe a good treasure item would be a as a positive message. I can't think of any other item at the moment.

Honestly, I concur with the idea of having it be a more colorful pet - I'm personally more of a fan of Blacklight than Spectrum myself, but either way I think having a pet whose coloration is indicative of many is a great way to be more inclusive as an umbrella term, if you're intending for the pet to be some kind of a "hub" or overall tribute to non-binary shenanigans in general!

The demi is actually my personal favorite of the Spectrum/Blacklight pets, especially since they revamped it with updated artwork that made it even more stunning. I just love how happy it looks, myself.

One thing I'd suggest for the TC is potentially the Hyperactive Loveheart Sticker - due to it being both a heart and also rainbow in nature. The only problem with it - and the reason I'm not posting the item sCode for it - is because it's an animated gif of rainbow colors, and that might... not be good for people with epilepsy or who are sensitive to bright flashy colors and movement?

Honestly, anything that's really colorful could probably work to help encompass the idea! (You mentioned this already, but honestly I think it would be hecka rad if you actually had some of the flags on there. I personally think they're very fun and pleasing to the eye, ah.)

Thank you so much for your suggestions! I agree, spectrum would be a perfect color for a pride pet :) I'm like 99% sure that's gonna be the plan, but choosing the species is gonna be super hard cuz they're all really great.

I put the images for the 4 species suggested in the first post, so you can see them side-by-side. Personally, I'm a fan of the devonti because it seems to be more colorful than the others - the rainbow takes up most of its fur and tail, whereas it's not as large on the others. I also like how happy and excited it looks! Though the wyllop is SUPER cute...

Blacklight is another good option but I think spectrum works better since the word "spectrum" can refer to the gender spectrum (that is, how gender is a spectrum, not a binary!)

I absolutely love the TC suggestions, especially the "you make the world brighter" sticker. I would love to fill the TC up with not just rainbow/pride items but positivity/self-love items as well.

I was thinking of making the profile layout in this color scheme :) I was also thinking, if we have a custom overlay, another option would be to keep the rainbow colors but edit so that the pet is waving a nonbinary flag!

- thanks for offering! that would be absolutely amazing. I'm not sure if we want to stick with rainbow, or make it nonbinary colors. I guess we could sort of do both - like make it mostly nonbinary flag colors, but have rainbow tufts on the tail or ears or something... hmm.

I think for the mascot, I would love to see the spectrum/blacklight Archan (get it? because pride? lions? eh?) or if not, I really like the Devonti idea as well (in spectrum or blacklight, though I do have a preference for blacklight haha)

I agree with the pet being either Spectrum or Blacklight in color, as far as species goes I'm biased towards the Ruffie and Kumos because I love puppies. But I like them all!

If ya'll taking suggestions still? Something to give a nod to Sue would be really cool, I think. Whether that's in the TC, or as the pet itself, or bananas.

But I'm also admittedly biased since I'm a huge dinosaur nerd & Sue is the first thing that popped into my brain when I saw this thread title.

This is Sue. Sue's the nickname given to the "largest, most extensive and best preserved Tyrannosaurus rex specimen ever found at over 90% recovered bulk."

(That's a huge Deal, for context; most fossils & related things that are discovered are barely anything at all; it's not like the movies where you get this awesome recognisable fully complete skeleton that you just take a little brush to get rid of some sand or dirt or whatever, and there it is.

Most times it's just something like a tooth or a bit of other broken/shattered bone, & some of the larger, incomplete fossils can take thousands of hours or even multiple years to get it safely out of the rock surrounding it in order to study.

I could talk forever about that, actually, or how excited I am about one of the most recent discoveries where one of the most perfectly preserved dinosaurs ever found is being worked on. It's so well preserved you can see things like its actual SKIN because its a whole half a dinosaur petrified instead of just some bones.)

Anyway, I mention Sue because of this. Sue is considered non-binary because of Science Reasons. (The short of it is: there's so much disagreement especially for Sue, & previously-held convictions about dinosaur sexual dimorphism in general is being called into question, & whatever intern or interns is in charge of Sue's media decided that representation for lots of dinosaur-loving enbies could have a lot of benefits.)

Edit: I know sex != gender, but I thought it was cool enough to mention as a suggestion. The person(s) behind Sue's media acknowledge there's a difference, & that they specifically still wanted Sue to be thought of as non-binary regardless of whatever else.
