I have RPG maker VX ace and I really love how simple they make creating games, absolutely no programming required, import your own sprites 'n' music, things like that. But my brother and I would like to do non rpg games too, like side scrollers and fighting games for example. I'd prefer if they could use any 2d graphics you create. Does anyone know any good programs for making a non rpg game that is as easy as rpg maker is?

I tried game maker studio I can't figure it out. I assumed drag and drop meant you make sprites, drop them on the screen where you want them, assign a sprite as the player and choose a start point, but no. And if it is like that I can't figure out how to get the damn thing into creative mode so I can draw the stages??? I'm so confused...
