has anyone played d&d with people online (or at all?) i really want to start this summer but the problem is... starting, you know, finding a group and stuff. any advice?

My husband has some buddies we played with irl before. I think we had like ... the first attempt was over Skype with a few non-local buddies. Then we had one that sprouted off of that one with the local buddies we were playing with. Then a few more buddies joined in so that became a different one. The third one had the best DM but wayyy too many ended up getting involved so it just took too long, not everyone played right, everyone wanted to be that kind of asshole rogue character. Blah.

I'd love to get started again, either online or url but we've moved so the url group we had before wouldn't work out. Maybe the Skype group. Roll20 is a good site to look for stuff, if you didn't know about it. We used it with the Skype group, but it has other like ... looking for group options.

oh, that's really cool. i'll definitely look into roll20. but yeah, i imagine everyone wanting to be an asshole rogue would kill everything, that's a shame.

Yeah, and in the asshole rogue group, I had Biri, a dragonborn who worshiped the god of gold and treasure or whatever, and duel wielded uhh... maces on chains? I forget the name.

Anyway, earlier in adventure, Biri came across a bag of gold, while no one else was around her, and opted to keep it for herself. My group mates (One in particular) was so salty about that, when the DM had the group encounter some treasure, that player's character found an enchanted weapon SPECIFICALLY for Biri. And he kept it. Keeping in mind, this character was a halfling, so like, he was struggling to carry this weapon concealed in his pack just because he was mad about the gold OOC.

Like, honestly, I am not here for players who can't keep IC and OOC separate.

I hope you find a good group! I keep meaning to look on roll20 for something for my husband and me to do together.
