Just a suggestion - what if the mods / admins instituted an "official" Subeta survey (voluntary, of course) to gather data and demographics about the site's userbase? I think it would be very informative and insightful, and help to shed light on certain areas, such as age group, gender, sexuality, etc.

I am really uncomfortable with Subeta asking me for my sexual orientation in a survey. What purpose would it serve? Subeta is a petsite, I don't think it's relevant to its field of activity.
There are interesting surveys to be done about Subeta. This isn't one of them.
Uh, no. I mean, even if it is plastered on my profile, some things are best left... out of site data.

To what end, though?
We're already asked to provide a birthdate when signing up, and all the other information is stuff that...well, advertisers care about more than a pet site would. I'm not sure I see the utility of asking users personal information.
What they think about various designs/site implementations, definitely, but if this survey went up I would never actually fill it out.
I am all for this, actually. If the survey and all questions are voluntary, then I don't see the problem. I mean, I'd personally love to see the age makeup of the site. Or what people's favorite activities are (wardrobe, battle, pets, etc.)
We do have that nifty polling place that's so rarely used already. That in itself could be better utilized to give the staff an insight into the player's mind. Ie, what aspect of the site needs a revamp first? (wardrobe, forums, battle, etc.) Should we add a whole new pet, or focus on expanding colors? What activities would you like to see added to Shengui Guo? (THE POSSIBILITIES ARE ENDLESS!) They could make the polls private and only share themes/trends too, if people are concerned.
The possibilities are endless, but considering that most, if not all of Subeta's site feature revamps end up half-assed at best and barely-assed-with at worst... I think polling these things would just get people's hopes up like crazy and result in even more salt among the userbase when nothing is delivered for months. :'D
That aside, I don't see the point of this? I think we did have a poll about user age a longlonglong time ago, but that's about where it ended. And a poll on gender is a can of worms you really don't want to open.
Why not just make a thread in Chit-Chat with a link to a survey you set up on a third party website? It's been done many times before and that's really the only way a survey like this should be done. Subeta's staff don't need to know our gender identity, sexuality, etc. unless they're selling that data to corporations.
So basically a census? No thank you. Besides, I'm pretty sure Subeta knows it's demographic by now lol
Even if a submission to this hypothetical survey is anonymous and non manditory I'd rather subeta stays far far away from this kind of data gathering.
I'm not explicitly against this, but I don't really see what kind of purpose it would serve.
Depends on whether staff would find the information useful or not, but I feel like they already know us well enough. Idle curiosity isn't really a strong enough reason imo.
If something like this does happen, I'd rather see it use a third party survey so our responses aren't linked to our Subeta accounts.

This might be useful on a site where staff keeps their distance from users, but that's not the case here.
If you (anyone, not just the op) are curious about the user base, then as someone else suggested, set up your own survey.

Why would the staff need to know what our sexual orientation is?There's no need for Subeta to have official surveys, the site has been around long enough for the staff to know their demographic by now.
Please no. It's just a game, I just come here to have fun. We can make friends on the forums and stuff, and that's really all I want. I wouldn't feel comfortable if Subeta asked me for personal info like that, even if it were voluntary to respond. Gathering data like this in an organized way has potential to make a lot of users uncomfortable, even if it's completely optional for them to respond. And there's no reason to do it other than just being curious what the statistics are. So it's not worth the risk of making users uncomfortable, and it's not worth the drama that could be caused.
