Listen, I always check on Derek's hunger level before I feed because I want to only pull out the amount of items I need.
He had 0/10 on the hunger count. I pulled 10 items out of my vault to feed to him. After item 8, he was suddenly "too full to eat that" and his hunger is now at 10/10.
Items I fed him:
It's hard enough to go after all of the Gourmand achievement without foods randomly boosting up more than +1 to the hunger level (especially with no warnings that they can/do do this).
- anyone else have this issue?
[edit] I forgot to mention this is not the first, or second, or even tenth time this has happened to me. This is a repeated issue. Especially with older foods. Sometimes I can only manage to feed 5-6 items before suddenly his hunger is all gone even though he was completely starved.
This is definitely a thing, unfortunately. I hope it's a bug, but I kind of think it must be intentional.
I'm pretty sure this isn't a bug. iirc the gives 5 points. There don't seem to be a ton of foods that give 2+ points though because I haven't hit any in awhile
this isn't a bug. Some older items, like the Mystical Magical Celestial Lolly, gives more than one point towards hunger. It's kind of like how some books give more than one point towards intel. The Mystical Magical Celestial Lolly gives 3 points for hunger, in case you were wondering!
Wow I didn't even know that!! 😵 thanks for bringing this to my attention - I'm always feeding my two pets but I never noticed :P
Thanks for the replies. I'm bummed about this honestly. I kinda really wish the ones that had a chance of that had a warning. I'd have skipped them all for now haha.
- I didn't notice it before, but I've been paying attention since I really tried to go after gourmand and was like...what is happening here???
[edit] Is there any way to get a list posted up of the ones that award (or can award) extra points? Or to have that removed since Gourmand is now a thing and was not a thing when that was first done?
It makes sense for intel because that's a boost to your pet, but this makes achieving an already long term achievement that much harder - especially since hunger level drops are already so random.
They were designed this way for users that wanted to feed their pet and have them full faster, think back when like if your pets were hungry you'd get that thing on your HA like UR PET IS STARVING. Generally, it's really old like r95+ foods that would boost your hunger more than one (as a treat of THANKS FOR USING THIS RARE ITEM type thing). I don't think we should have to remove it, either, just because of Gourmand.
I understand not wanting to remove it I guess (although, I kinda thought the point of the resort was to help if you didn't want your pet to be hungry), but is it possible to get a list then? So at least we know what foods to avoid if we're trying to get in our max feeding for Gourmand?
I certainly don't have an specific item list because I'm nearing 7k now, but several months ago I finished feeding all the rarity 1-99 items to my pet and this STILL happens to me, regardless, so are you absolutely sure it's only a few of those items / only those rarities? This happens to me almost every single day if I include items older than two-threeish years. It's very frustrating. I understand Gourmand is supposed to take a while, I really, really do. But with 10 items a day it still takes 700 days to max out, that's almost two years of not missing a single feed and getting a full 10 items a day in. With all this random items giving 2+ points, the days begin to stretch further and further and at what point is 1k+ days challenging? In what sense exactly is that supposed to be challenging?? This said as someone who's almost done, and can and will probably quit working on this unless another tier is added (hopefully not but, that spite tho right), I am not sure what the challenge is, except to see how long you can remain not frustrated and not want to quit working on it because it's not user-friendly w/o information on items that are 2+. At least if we had that information that could be the last item of each day so we don't suffer a penalty.
Ariel and I haven't added extra points to foods in years, so yes I'm sure it's not a thing for new foods.
That's not what I said or asked in my post so I'm not sure how to interpret your response.
[edit] oops pinged Ariel. Sorry T_T
I was replying to this part :
We haven't added the food points to anything new in years, so again yes I'm sure that it's just items that are older with high rarity like that. Some of these items have been around since like the dawn of Subeta, and even back then I/whoever else added items never did it to like every single food item (again it was kind of like a reward almost??).
[edit]
I've just gone into the database to see how many food items we have that give more than one hunger point. Out of 8240 food items, only 108 give more than one point (some give 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, or 10). They're all pretty old itemids, too. A lot are the higher rarity ones, with a few being 160/175 (example: Dill being a reading drive prize way back feeds your pet for 3 hunger and it's rarity 160).

The quoted part of my post doesn't say anything about NEW items, it says items from older than 2-3 years ago that are higher than rarity 99. Is it possible items that have been retired, but at once were high rarity are included in this?? Is it possible to give a list of those 108 items, since there are apparently so few of them, so that gourmand people can plan around them and you guys don't need to listen to people begging for changes =P
I added a bit more info to that edit, but still. I think the most recent thing that had more than one point added was from the first wave of reading drive points, the dill example I posted! Yeah, rarities might've changed at one point or another, because lol RD ones have moved to different things, but like I said earlier in general, it's still the r95+ items that had the increase in food things.

I mean maybe one day I'll do a list? It's not exactly high priority because it's not a broken feature or something that's keeping you from finishing a thing (like I need to fix beanbag collection because you can't get that last trophy atm as an example of something you can't actually finish haha).
n_n'' is it possible to get a list? Not even a detailed one, just like item names = have more than 1 pt food. Doesn't have to have exact amounts or anything like that.
-pokes nose back in- Trying to organize my life on here is draining haha.
Would it be possible to get a list of the items that do add more than one hunger? Even if it doesn't specify exactly how much more, it would be super handy to know which ones to avoid until I'm closer to the end goal. It doesn't even need to be notes added onto the item - just a list posted up would be helpful as hell ❤️
ugh hit enter too quick for last post so had to do edit but:
2-3+ years to get an achievement is pretty unfinishable if you can't even get 10 items fed to a pet in a day. I mean, there are days that no matter what I do, my pet won't even lose hunger. So adding that to items that can give anywhere from +2-10 of fullness is actually an issue.
If you can see the list of 108 items when you look at the database, it seems like the information is easily at hand to be copied.
When events and new colors and revamps add beanbags and plushies too - it likely could stay at 3k beanbags required and hit the achievable status round about the same time tbh.
I've seen a lot more complaints about issues related to gourmand than I have about people not getting the arbitrary 3k beanbag trophy.
It's not easily copied because it's spread between like four tables :p Just because I was able to find out how many had it, doesn't mean it's easy. Making that an actual list that makes sense to you guys, at that, would take even more time. I'm not saying I won't do it, but I have other things that take higher priority.
The beanbag collection was an example, and it doesn't matter if not many people complain about it. It's literally unobtainable right now, and while the Gourmand might be hard it's still something you can do ;)
and I plans for a feature that will make your hunger 0 along with some other things (I've hinted at it on the forums before I believe), and it's something I'm hoping to have out this summer so you at least have that to look forward to. :)
Okay. I don't have access to that end so I wasn't aware of how many tables. That's definitely why I mentioned not needing to know how many potential points it awards though (if/when you do get around to it) - it would be enough to be aware the item may/does give more than +1 to fullness.
Gourmand isn't hard. Hard implies some level of skill. This merely requires a ridiculous amount of time at this point, as there is no way to guarantee we can feed our pet at least 10 items per day. Assuming you can get on once a day, every day, and feed your pet 10 items, the literal bare minimum amount of time invested is just over 23 months. And, as pointed out, while there are only 108 items that can/do award more than +1 to hunger, that's still an unknowable thing out of your pool of items you've been stocking up on. On top of that, the issues surrounding pets just not clearing hunger daily means that the likelihood of it being more than 2 years is a lot higher. So, it's not hard, but it is a very long amount of time invested.
I know folks have been asking for some sort of sP sink or something that allows us to potentially gain hunger faster, so I'm excited to see what's in the works for that.
