hello again art community!
i've been off and on subeta for the past eight years, and now as the spring semester comes to a close, i figured i should try getting into an online community once more since all my friends are from out of state. it's gonna be a lonely summer haha
so i just have a few questions: how hard is it to sell "higher priced" artwork here? higher priced as in maybe... $50-$100 and typically what type of art do people look for? is it just pet overlays and human/oid OCs? do people still look for custom wardrobes/custom items? i'm trying to get a gist of the art culture here since it always seems to change a bit (or at least in my eyes) every time i check back in on the site.
also, is there a thread that states size requirements of icons/pet overlays? i cant seem to find one.
thank you!
I don't see much art going for above $50, you might try holding an auction! That seems to be the way people sell higher-priced art.
As for the art market, there is a huge CW (custom wearable) market, a lot of people commission artists to do custom wearables for them c: In the art market forum, people sell quads, anthros, and human art, and overlays. For overlays, I think the price depends on the skill level/technique of the artist. The average range I've seen is probably $15-$40.
As for the overlays -
[Quote] Uploading an image will cost you 500 Cash Shop Credits! Alright, before we let you upload your new pet image, we have a couple rules to go over:
Keep it PG-13 and well within the current Subeta rules. No stealing artwork that wasn't made for or purchased by you. Quads and anthros only please - no humans, kemonomimi/gijinka, or inanimate objects. Fullbody artwork only - no busts/headshots. No images that represent pets from other pet sites. Props are allowed, but no minions or extra characters. No unaltered official Subeta artwork. Each image must be unique - two users cannot upload the same overlay. Art Guidelines:
Format: 200x200 png file with either transparent or white background. Digital artwork only. Use the 'save for web' feature, avoid dithering/stray pixels etc. Image must be drawn to fit the canvas, no squashing/stretching etc. Integrate props in with the existing art quality - don't just paste objects on. Don't simply adjust the hue/saturation/colour of official artwork - this distorts quality/lines. Style choice is completely up to you. Overlays do not need to be Subeta quality and detail, but these pets are still in some way representing the site so we reserve the right to deny an overlay for any reason not listed above. Any similarities between your design and future Subeta designs for pets are purely coincidental. And lastly, If your overlay is later found to be in violation of any of the above, it will be removed from the site and no refund of CSC will be given.

thanks a bunch! n____n and i figured art didn't go that high either, i don't think i'd be offering stuff for that much here anyway.
may i ask where you found that quote? maybe i didn't look hard enough haha
It's from the custom overlay page in your overall pets page here. link If you click on the upload new link it'll lead you to the upload custom over lay page with all the rules about uploading them.
That's for uploading a custom overlay that will be seen around site though.
