I have a T7, close to T8 pet and similar weapons available to other people who have said they beat it. I feel like on paper I should be able to get past this one but I am struggling hardcore. (Note: I have no idea what I'm doing, I pretty much have a battle pet just to use in plots at this point and I honestly just can't be assed to learn strategies here)

I'm pretty sure my scrolls suck since I haven't changed them in ages but I have no idea what to get as an improvement and also I really don't plan to train any farther than this so I don't want to sink a ton of money into them either.

The 5 headed one seems to do a lot of fire, magma, physical, water and dark with some earth mixed in. I would definitely use your reborn icewand so you have a chance to freeze him if his blessing doesn't activate and block a few of each of the icons he deals. Your rift blade would be a good choice for a second weapon since it blocks fire, heals and deals a lot of dark icons. He blocks a little of everything except water. If you find you are not doing enough damage, then you can try the pirate cutlass that does a lot of water damage, but doesn't have a heal. Rainbow vortex and pquill is good. I would also pick up a recycle blaster to blast one of his weapons. Gatekeeper collar is nice to use on the first turn for a guaranteed freeze, then you can bomb him with the lantern. or blast a weapon.

As for scrolls, cobalts are good. Sancturia exodin could also work, but perlious whirlpools are really nice for this guy since they have a chance to freeze, do 10 water damage and block 75 fire. Again, pay attention to if that blessing that protects from freezing activates. As a main use scroll, aftershocks is ideal, but feather explosion is also really good for him.

Scroll Just is enough. I got to 10 wins with my T7 pet with a similar setup, but it doesn't hurt if you've got spare APs and want to equip a couple Cobalts.

Note: The following items are not mandatory, but better to have (i.e. save you some time and a few losses): If you don't want to buy a Reviver of the Lion, you might want to equip a instead in case of emergency. You can bring the Rainbow Vortex instead of the Soma if you want, just to fill that empty slot. This item can be swapped out for other options: Alternatives include:

Anyway I still prefer the Frost Thorn over any other T7 alternatives. It hits harder and has a small chance to freeze, which is brilliant when paired with the Reborn Icewand.

Then you might want to mod all of your weapons with this modification crystal: for a chance to activate that blessing which provides even more defense. If you feel like you want more attack than defense, then you can mod the or instead.

The Flayed Lord Breastplate is a good shield for your tier and especially against this challenger. It has a chance of not blocking anything at all, but overall it will prove more useful to you than any other full blocker (Shinwas Temple Shard/ Rainbow Vortex) could in this battle.

Your sequence of attacks should be like this: Turn 1: Freeze + block + healing scroll Turn 2: Frost thorn/ Steel darts + blast + healing scroll (or blast + blast + healing scroll if you can get or borrow a Soma Tablets) Turn 3: Frost thorn/ Steel darts + block + healing scroll

Whenever your health goes down to light green, stop using the steel darts/ frost thorn and switch to this combo instead: Reborn Icewand + block + healing scroll Heal until your health goes back up to green again; it doesn't have to be full health, just 90-95% full would do. Whenever the hydra is frozen, drop all defense and go all out on attacking.
