I've been using Paintbrush Blades + Blessed Trident for a while now, but I'm stumped with the Seven-Head Panzer Hydra, because I keep running out of HP and -obviously- dying.

I know I need to invest in better weapons, and after a bit of research I saw that the Reviver of the Lion was better then The One Ring, so I just purchased it and swapped it on my armory.

Then I read about the Malignant Rift Staff, which heals 9%, VS the Trident's 7%, and while it's such a small difference, it could make a difference. What's best, I do own it and it's in my armory.

Should I swap out my Blessed Trident for the Rift Staff, or should I invest in a different weapon instead?

Regarding scrolls, I also a Soothing Current Scroll for healing whenever I need but I was wondering if there was a better scroll to use for healing?

Are you looking for advice for a universal set, or are you looking to beat the Hydra specifically? When it comes to weapons and opponents it's not the heal percentage alone that decides which one is the better one. If you're looking to beat the Hydra you're looking for weapons that block his main icons, which are physical/ earth/ dark/ magma/ fire. I'd worry about his physical too because when he hits with it, he hits harder than the other icons. Malignant Rift Staff provides you with dark and magma cover, yet will leave you vulnerable to physical and earth attack. If I have to compare between the PBB and the Rift Staff I'd say the PBB does the job better with your stats, since it comes with a blessing that will provide you a wider cover than the Rift Staff would, plus it comes with 4 mod slots versus 3. Both deal somewhat the same amount of icons on average that the hydra doesn't block (23 vs 23).

What you need to counter the Hydra's attack is a physical and earth block. You can try pairing the Plague Claw with the Rift Staff. Better still if you can borrow a Charged Tower Shield. Aftershocks Scroll is ideal for this opponent because of its physical, earth and dark block. It's a good infinite healing scroll overall so it's a worthwhile investment for your battling needs.

Thank you ! I think my main problem is that I keep dying because the Hydra keeps landing critical hits, even when I'm using my PQuill in the same turn.

I have gotten close to my 9th victory with the Plague Claw+Rift Staff, and using the PBB whenever I get lucky enough to freeze him.

I probably should invest in a few extra Eternal Scrolls.... 3 are definitely not enough anymore.

What are your sequences of attack (i.e. what did you use for your first three turns and generally every turn after that)? And can you share the scroll that you use?

I also added two more Eternal Scroll for the 10th win attempts.

1st turn -- RB + DDS + Eternal Scroll 2nd turn -- Rift + PBB + Gelaspell Scroll 3rd turn -- Rift + Plague + Gelaspell Scroll (or if freeze chain, repeat above)

Next turns are basically the same

Whenever my HP goes down to around 900-1000 -- Rift + Plague + Eternal Scroll

The first time my HP goes below 500 -- Revival + Plague + Eternal Scroll (if unavailable, then Soothing Current Scroll) The second time my HP goes below 600-500 -- PQuill + Plague + Soothing Current Scroll

have you tried a prodigy staff?

soothing current definitely needs an upgrade.

those are some upgrades, terra focujin you can make in the shrine but doesn't provide much offense. feather explosion is next, cheaper than aftershocks with a bit less defense but comparable attack and healing. aftershocks is like twice the price of feather explosion last I checked, and at that point I'd just go with ocean currents which has more heal

Prodigy staff is still on my WL as I haven't beaten Prodigy yet... however, 10m is affordable, so I might splurge a bit more for it instead of getting 2 more Eternals :P

Terra Focujin is also on my WL, and I just added the rest of your scroll suggestions. Seems that I really need to work on creating scrolls, or I'll go broke upgrading hehe.

there aren't a whole lot of scrolls you can really create that are any good. terra is one, but the others I mentioned are better and replace it, and those scrolls all come from opponents.

I am indeed just one win away, but I've lost 21 times against him already, so I don't know if I'll be able to return it right over.

Hopefully with the few upgrades I just made today, I'll be able to get 5 wins against the opponents I still need to get some of those scrolls, but surely - with my luck- they'll be seasonal challengers XD

just send it back when you're done. I had 3 Water Baguette Crystals on it but it's not a huge deal if those don't get replaced

I concur 's suggestion of the Prodigy Staff. You might also want to pay attention to the battle text and notice if there are any weapons of the hydra that deal 30-ish icons for each type. I believe the hydra has some of the weapons of the last version (8-headed) which are not supposed to be there.

I can lend you my Aftershocks Scroll if you need it for the last win. I just tested a few weapons and notice that with either the Prodigy Staff or the Cursed Liquid Fire Torch I dealt more damage on average than if I used the Plague Claw/ Rift Staff, so it might be something you want to try out.

Hi sorry for the ping but I just tested the 7-hydra again and noticed that his Mighty Boom and Loose Cannon still deal 30-ish icons for each type. Is this intentional or is it something that should have been fixed?

I feel so sad that I missed the Throwback Challenger Daemon (Servant of the Seas) challenger, so I just WLed the Cursed Liquid Fire Torch to get hopefully very soon (crossing fingers it won't inflate)
