I just had something awful happen. One of my pets was nominated for Pet Spotlight for months and now, all because of a mis-click she's no longer nominated.

What happened is I was adjusting a pet spotlight location for another one of my pets when I decide to make her Spotlight Ready, because I always like to make adjustments to new pets to see where the spotlight link is.

Anyway I went back to the Pet Spotlight page after I checked it would show up where I wanted it to and I accidentally toggled the wrong radio button.

My suggestion is this can there be both a message when we toggle the radio button as well as one for the "select pets" link so that this doesn't happen again please? Maybe an "are you sure you want to nominate x,y, and z pet"? Or something like that, I'm not really sure how the wording should be. I just don't want this to happen to another of my pets, or anyone's pets again.

I know, I should've been "paying attention", but this has me really upset.

I think staff needs to be more clear on this overall as well. I had a pet nominated for 18 months 18 freaking months, and someone was talking about spotlight issues. I expressed concern because the code was broken a bit because it had been idle so long (i.e. outdated username links due to ISSing). A staff member told me I could edit the page and it would be fine, and the pet got kicked out of the queue, and the consolation was 'well it probably would've gotten kicked out anyway, sorry!' The spotlight process is incredibly frustrating because of the wait and I think if staff got around to actually looking at the pets a bit faster, issues like yours wouldn't even be a problem in the first place. I truly can't understand the excuse for pets being in the queue for months, and this has been a persistent problem that has kept one of my pets spotlight ready for probably 3+ years now without a win just due to waiting and has completely dissuaded me from working on more pets until this gets fixed.

That being said, yes please. The dread I would feel after that mistake would kill me.

Oh gosh that's awful! There really does need to be some major changes to the Pet Spotlight. I'm assuming the winner is still chosen at random from the ever-growing list.
